Make Restoring Your Exterior Wood …Easy!
Restore-A-Deck Cleaner and Brightener system is a powerful “eco-friendly” two-part restoration system.
Step 1 Wood and Deck Cleaner that deeply cleans your wood to remove dirt, grime, mold, algae and general graying. The cleaner will help prep neglected wood and or prep for re-coating with a wood or deck stain.
Step 2 Wood Brightener is used after the wood cleaner to “brighten” the wood while neutralizing the cleaner to a natural pH balance. This step will improve the overall appearance of your wood while helping the wood deck stain longevity.
- 100% Biodegradable product
- Concentrated powder formula – Cleans up to 1000 sq. feet!
- Prep wood surfaces for re-coating with a wood or deck stain
- Restores weathered gray wood to natural color
- Eco-friendly
I just finished building a rough sawn douglas fir porch cover with my contractor. Unfortunately, when he cut the bolts with the grinding wheel, it left a residue of either burnt metal (or the aluminum oxide grinding disc dust). He came back and sandblasted it, but some of it, and a little bit of grease from the grading chains at the saw mill remain. Any suggestions?

You can sand but you might want to use the Restore A Deck Stripper first. Sand after, than use the brightener.

You need to remove the SW first. Typically done with the Restore A Deck stripper and possibly some sanding. Use the Restore A Deck Brightener when finished. This will prep for the TWP.

Yes you would need to use the kit for this. Let dry for a couple of days before staining.

No you do not unless the paint is failing by peeling or heavily oxidizing.

Do I need to go thru the cleaner & brightener process again? What’s the best way to get rid of the water spots?
Thanks,

See it the spots dry out an go away first. If not then you will most likely need to strip it off and start over.

Finally, we have pavers under the deck, what effect will the cleaners have on those? I plan to use a drop cloth when doing the prep and staining but would like to know if cleanup is possible should there be a problem.
You apply the cleaner with a pump sprayer and pressure wash off. The cleaners will not harm pavers but you will need to tarp when staining.

You need to remove the peeling stain first. This will need to be stripped and possibly sanded to remove. Once removed you should use the wood brightener.

I have a 16×14 PT pine deck, 30 years old, painted 3 layers deep but was peeling, flaking, ugly as sin but not as fun. Chose to sand instead of strip because in my experience stripping is messy/marginally effective. Went 24 grit then 50 then 80. How long to wait/suggested steps to take before applying restore-a-deck so the fibers are opened back up again?
Maybe a few weeks than use the Gemini Kit for the prep. Make sure all the paint has been removed with the sanding or it will show through the TWP. Thanks!

Hard to say if it will or will not take off the TWP some. It depends on how will it has help up. You can mix the Cleaner at 2-3 oz per gallon to wash lightly.

Try to rinse away from pool to avoid getting dirt in there. The chemicals should not affect the pool water much or at all. Just check pH balance when done and adjust if needed.

Yes you can use this on a composite deck to clean.
Jeremy, usually the products will not effect the spindles but best to test first. If they do not have a smooth finish on the spindles than there is greater chance of having some discoloration.
Please use calculator on right to determine amount needed for the stain and Gemini Kit.
My deck i elevated 12′ it is 12’x40′ has 16 steps 36″wide my spindles are powder coated aluminum black in color will the cleaner/ restorer or stain harm the spindles if it gets on them. I would just clean to remove the mold that is growing on top of the stain and not restain.
Hello, I applied your twp 1500 oil stain to my new deck last fall. I noticed that there is some mildew on the deck. The deck is exposed to the sun, no overhanging trees.
What would you recommend that I use to clean the deck. Do I need to re-stain after I clean it? The size of the deck is 700 square feet.
Thank you
