Make Restoring Your Exterior Wood …Easy!
Restore-A-Deck Cleaner and Brightener system is a powerful “eco-friendly” two-part restoration system.
Step 1 Wood and Deck Cleaner that deeply cleans your wood to remove dirt, grime, mold, algae and general graying. The cleaner will help prep neglected wood and or prep for re-coating with a wood or deck stain.
Step 2 Wood Brightener is used after the wood cleaner to “brighten” the wood while neutralizing the cleaner to a natural pH balance. This step will improve the overall appearance of your wood while helping the wood deck stain longevity.
- 100% Biodegradable product
- Concentrated powder formula – Cleans up to 1000 sq. feet!
- Prep wood surfaces for re-coating with a wood or deck stain
- Restores weathered gray wood to natural color
- Eco-friendly
I just cleaned my year old wolmanized wood deck with both steps of Gemini cleaner and brightener. There is a white residue on most of the wood. Used a pressure washer on step 1 and garden hose on step 2. Can I apply 1500 stain over this or must it be removed.
Thank you

Same stain for both wood. Use the Gemini Restore kit for the prep.

I was told to sand the deck down first, I guess to remove the treated material, and then stain. Should I still do this?
No need to sand. Just use the kit.

Yes on the Gemini Restore kit for the prep. You can do two very light coats applied wet on wet as long as the stain absorbs into the wood.

It seems like it’s best to use the two restore-a-deck products on my deck, wait 2-3 days for it to dry, and then stain the deck. However, we haven’t been getting continuous sun. If I use restore a deck and then it rains for a few days after that, is it OK to wait a few weeks – and the deck has been dry for 2-3 days – before I stain it? In other words, is it OK if the cleaning and the staining part are done a few weeks apart?
Thank you,
Helen
Try not to wait more then 1-2 weeks after using the kit.

We has it sanded and done again (can still see some of old stain thru a it it looks awful. We want to start over. First off, where suggest finding a reputable person to so for us who knows your produvts? Then do we need to (1) step one of Gemini (2) do we need to use Gemini stripped or try sanding again? (3) brightened from kit (4) then the twp stain!? Before step 4 should all old stain be off or will be some old stuff there? Last time we sanded and sanded and didn’t all come up. Plus, we have metal railings with wood on top. How do we strip that and any way to get stain off that dropped on the metal? Such a beautifully built deck but poorly finished! So disappointing. You should remove all of the old stain. Strip off as much as possible with the Restore A Deck Stripper. Sand if needed after. Use the RAD Brightener and rinse after 10 minutes. When the wood is dry and prepped you can then use the TWP.
Hi, will the Gemini Restore-A-Deck Kit remove stains caused by use of the wrong nails on a cedar deck rails? Our contractor apparently used screws that reacted with the oils in the cedar causing black/grey spots. We are currently in month 2 of letting the new cedar weather, and we’re planning on staining in month 10. Prior to doing that, we will use this brightener/cleaner product, but wanted to find out if the contractor needs to replace all the railings or if this will take care of it. Please let me know. Thanks!
That is rust from the nails and from him using the wrong nails. The Kit may remove it temporarily but most likely they will come back when it rains.

You need a pump sprayer and a pressure washer for best results. You can read here for instructions:

Question: Can I purchase and do Gemini pretreatment in Oct/Nov? How soon afterwards can I do the stain?
Thank you.

Yes you can do this in October/November as long as the weather is warm enough. Stain 2 days after the Gemini Kit prep.

The cleaner is safe but you should not get the stain into the water as it is oil based and will float on top of the pond water.

Last year cleaned my 30 yr old cedar deck, sanded, staining with TWP; this year would like to clean and brighten it and then apply a second coat of stain. I have your Restore-A-Deck kit. After applying the step 1 cleaner, can I wait a day, wet, and then do the step 2 brightener? Or, must I do it right away? Thanks, PK
Last night I finished up before sunset and the deck looked nice. When I looked at it this morning with the morning sun drying it up I was AMAZED! It looked better than the day it was built. If it looks this good now,I can’t wait to see what it looks like after I apply the TWP 1500. Its nice to see results like this when you spend the time to research a product and work hard to get those results. More to follow. Thanks
Awesome! Thanks for the post. When applying the TWP make sure to apply evenly and do not over apply. If some stain does not absorb after 40 minutes you can wipe off the excess with a rag. Make sure to follow the directions on the can. It is not hard to apply, just do not want you to think that more is better.

Yes you can apply the coat of stain to the wood. It is best to use the Gemini when reapplying the TWP for the prep as the new coat will adhere better. When not reapplying try just cleaning with a little bit of soapy water and a soft push broom to remove dirt.

Not sure on how to remove the grease or the burnt metal. Deck cleaners will not remove it.
