I have a 26 year old cedar deck in Arlington Hts., Ill.I was last cleaned and stained by a company 3 years ago. I don’t know what material was used to stain–assume oil based semi-transparent. Should I use 100 or 1500 series? I will be using a contractor to clean and seal my deck. Is his only option ordering yor stain online?
The old coating will need to be removed if it was not TWP. Only the 1500 is allowed in IL. We ship online to you. Only take about 2 business days.
What is the difference in the TWP 100 and TWP 1500 series. Brand new treated pine deck, live in Western KY. Which one is the right one for me?
Hello,
See this about new wood: https://www.twpstainhelp.com/prepping-new-wood-for-twp-stains/
After the wait and prep, use the TWP 100 Series.
I getting ready to order some samples of the 1500. I see that I can order samples of “Clear” but dont see clear listed as a color for the 1500. Do you carry clear in 1500 and if so Is it truly clear?
Clear is a color option to order on the product order pages. Clear has no tint and also will not provide UV protection since it has no tint.
I have a log home, siding, and garage that have been stained in the past (3 yrs ago). Which stain would be best for my home? I live in south central Pa. My current stain is “Natural-Kote” TM. It is a soy based wood stain.
Prep by removing the “Natural-Kote” with this: https://www.twpstain.com/restore-a-deck-stripper-brightener-kit-detail
After prep, use the TWP 1500 Series.
Hi TWP! Super excited to order my stain. Question though, I reside in NC, deck gets part sun and does contend with some mold/mildew. Deck is super old though and wood is quite worn with splitting and and deep grooves. Plan to pressure wash, sand as much as possible, then use cleaner and brightener. 100 series okay?
Yes, the 100 Series is the correct stain. Use the Cleaner while doing the pressure washing.
I live in Georgia. Which stain would you recommend for this area? Is the TWP100 a better choice than the TWP1500? If so, why?
Both equally but most use the TWP 100 for your area due to it being allowed there.
Do you have a dealer in Osage Beach Mo. I have a 25 year old deck. What product should I use
Hello, use the TWP 100 Series for your area. We ship online directly to your door.
Can you please explain the difference between the 100 and 1500 series? I’m looking to stain a brand new (pine) outdoor porch floor. Thanks!

my deck is 39 yrs old but in good condition. Should I order the 100 or 1500 series stain?
Use the 1500 Series.
My deck was stained with TWP – 205 California Cedar about 3 yrs ago. I want to re-do, but want to use the same color, but specifically for Decks and retain semi-transparent oil base. What is comparable, in the 100 or 1500 series? Thanks
Bruce, there is not a compatible color in the 100 or 1500 Series. Best to prep with this and then use any color you like: https://www.twpstain.com/restore-a-deck-stripper-brightener-kit-detail
Thanks for the response! Which series is better, 100 or 1500? I am planning on ordering a couple samples and want to order from the correct series. I reside in GA, so I don’t think there are any restrictions like other states may have for shipping and usage.
Most use the TWP 100 Series in GA but the TWP 1500 is jus as good.
Will the grain of the wood show through the 1503 Dark oak stain? Also, can your stain be applied over untreated wood with small areas of wood filler? Thanks!
Yes, the grain will show through with the TWP 1503 and all other colors. The TWP will not “stain” wood filler so it blends. The wood filler will show through.
Is the TWP 1500 Clear less UV protected because it’s clear?
The Clear will not provide UV protection from graying. All of the TWP colors will.
I would like to order samples to decide color to use next spring for a deck just installed. Do I need to let my test boards (for color choice) weather before I stain? Don’t want to have the color be different when applied to weathered deck after the waiting period.
If the deck is weathered and your test boards are not, then yes the color will be slightly off.
I tried 3 samples of 1500 in an inconspicuous place in my deck and have settled on the color I like. Can those samples be removed using a stripper? Deck is newer pressure treated lumber and this will be the first application

I have samples of your TWP115 wood stain. I like the color but it seems to have a glossy finish. Is this color available in a non glossy finish? It can be an oil type or matte finish. If you have it available, what is the code. Thank you, John
TWP is not a glossy or shiny stain at all. It is a matte finish with no gloss. If it glossed on you then you did not prep correctly and or over applied so it could not properly soak into the wood grain.

I am sorry but we are not familiar with their colors. Just an FYI, to use the TWP you will need to remove any previous coatings first. You cannot apply the TWP over the Super Deck.

I also like the silvery grey dried wood look as it is typically less hot in the sun to walk on barefoot than darker wood tones. I am purchasing a sample of your honey tone, clear, and cape cod gray all in 100 for Florida. I intend to mix the grey with clear in varying amounts and make test samples. Is it safe to assume a 50/50 mix would be half as UV protective? Any words of wisdom for mixing?
Yes, that is correct. It is possible to mix the TWP colors and any color you like will work.

You can put on isn sun but be careful of days above 90 as it will dry faster. Rough sawn wood is very absorbent so you may need the two coats applied wet on wet.

using everwoodwpc
new deck
any suggestions?
I stripped my large side deck and it was suggested I use oak trying to get close to my older decks (in the front and downstairs) med golden brown tone. (Flood cwf uv5 natural many times)
The oak is muddy reddish brown! One coat. If I put a coat of natural over the oak in the summer will this help neutralize this awful color?
I really do not want to strip the deck again.
There was no other color that seemed to work.
Any suggestions
Hello, I have two questions related to the 1500:
I want to stain some barndoors made out of rough sawn popular to appear more like rough sawn cedar. Which color of 1500 do you think would get the closest match?
For a separate application I have rough sawn cedar pillars and I dont want to alter the color. Do you have a clear version of the 1500? If not, what 1500 color will change the color of the cedar the least?
Thank you!
Jon Aldrich
All wood varies when stained to there is no way to have a suggestion as to what color will match.
No color = no UV protection. The 1500 comes in a clear with no color, but it will gray naturally in months. If you want UV protection from graying for longer, you must have a tinted color.
Do you recommend TWP for boat docks, considering it it toxic?
It can be used for boat docks, but you should avoid dripping in water while applying being it is an oil based stain. Once dry there are no issues.
