Note: Each sample is roughly 1-2 oz of liquid stain. This is enough to test a small area.

Maria, if the wood is rough then you can stain right away. You can only use the 1500 for CA and we can ship it to you there from the website. We would need a total sq. footage to give you an idea as to the amount. Are you doing both sides of fence?
What is the best TWP product for a new cedar privacy fence 75 feet long?
Where can we purchase this product in San Diego? (dark oat color will be Ok)
How much TWP will be needed?
Hi,
I need to stain pressure-treated pine new fence (Nashville, Tenessee; very hot and also a lot of moisture/mold) – which series 100 or 500 would you recommend? Thanks
Eddie, yes you should remove the Olympic first. Use the Restore A Deck Stripper and the Wood Brightener.
We used Olympic maximum semi transparent on half of my fence and want to change color and brand. Do i have to strip the old stuff off before adding new brand and color?
If the old stain is blotchy then it would be best to use the stripper followed by the brightener to ensure an even application. You do not need the cleaner if you use the stripper but you do need the brightener.
If current stain is a bit worn/blotchy, should I use “stain stripper” before applying new stain? And if I use the “stain stripper”, do I also need to use the “Cleaner & Brightener”? Or is the “cleaner/brightener” only used when you don’t need to strip-off old stain?
Hi,
Are these the same colors for the 200 series? The builder recommended 200 series and I want to make sure I order the samples that I will be able to get in the 200 series.
garyatlanta, What is your total sq. footage for all of the siding?
i need to determine how much TWP 200 to buy for my homes cedar shake siding
the building is 35×38 and the siding is 9.5 feet down the side of the building
im getting a lot of different answers on this
the siding has aged for 4 years so Im thinking 200sf per gallon
Israel, best to wait until Spring to let the wood dry out. Prep correctly with the Gemini Restore Kit and apply 1 coat of the TWP 1500 Series for the first time staining.
Chuck, no TWP will not prevent carpenter bees or ants.
Will the product Cedartone 1501 help repell and protect against Carpenter Bees and Carpenter Ants?
I currently have a new log home under construction. The logs are englemann spruce and are similar in color to standard spruce. I live outside st.louis , mo. we haven’t picked a stain yet although were leaning towards he twp. Any suggestions?
Carol, you need to wait until Spring until staining and cleaning first with the Gemini Restore Kit. Best to get samples to actually test as color charts will vary on the wood type and age of wood. Rustic for example will come out more red then brown. This article may help as well:

have just installed pres. treated deck on LI, in NY condidering Rustic color to match shake shingles that are browish grey. Can you send sample color Chart so I can peruse. Carol Griebel 9 London Ct. Northport NY 11768 how long do I wait before staining/sealing?
Use the 100 Series for TN but please read this article about new wood:

Building new deck in middle TN out of pressure a treated lumber, as well as a screened in deck. What is best product to use.
For MA you would want the TWP 1500 as the Storm Shield is no longer available. Please read this about new wood:

Hi, I live in Mass. and I am installing western red cedar shingles and I would like to preserve the natural color of the cedar. I do not want it to turn black from mold. I also do not want it to turn grey. I realize that maintenance is involved over time.
My questions are, what color should I chose and which product, oil based (1500) or the storm shield water borne.
thank you,
tony
retired jeff, please read this article for color tips:

Tucker, The 100 Series would be best for Texas. Please read this about new wood:

I was going to get Sikkens, but after reading some reviews, I’d like to try TWP for my new cedar deck. I want to get the 100 series and live in Austin, Texas. Will that work? I was going to try a sample of the Natural and the Cedartone, then I’d order a 5 gal. container. Also, can I treat the deck now, or do you recommend holding off for 5-6 months to make sure it absorbs properly?
Hard to tell precise color on the computer screen — comparing the TWP 1500 Rustic and Cedartone. It looks like the Rustic has a slight reddish tone to it and the Cedartone is a brownish tone (no red) – is this correct? Our last color was Teak, but from another manufacturer. We prefer the brown tone, but Dark Oak is too brown.
Pecan in both series is an orangy/brown color. There is not a medium brown. Dark Oak is a dark brown. This may help:
http://www.twpstainhelp.com/twp-1500-colors-explained/
I would like to get a nice brown deck stain without the orange tint. I ordered a sample of the Pecan 1520 and applied it on my deck. It appears to have an orange tint to it, in which it is more orange than I would prefer. Is the pecan in the 100 series (Pecan 120) a better option for a stain that is brown with less of an orange tint, or would it be similar to the Pecan 1520? Or is there a better option for a brown deck stain without an orange tint? I am looking for a stain similar to the pecan color, but more of a nice brown oak look to it.
Yes you can use an airless. Any tip will work but we like wider fans for application.
Can I use an airless sprayer for the 1500 series?
Can you recommend the proper tip size (.011, .013, .015) for spraying the 1500 series stain?
SLNorman, Cedartone 1501 is darker then the 1520 Pecan. Yes only 1500 Series in Cali.
In the TWP 1500 Series, which color is considered “darker” the Cedartone or the Pecan?
The Pecan is beautiful in the 100 series, but appears more golden in the 1500 series.
Also, live in Northern CA (San Jose) and have brand new redwood deck, because of restrictions am I limited to the 1500 series?
Thank you,
Susan
Mark P, for GA I would look at the 1500 or the 100. They last about the same.
Why there are no TWP200 samples offered?
Can I stain a 10 years old treated pine deck in Georgia with TWP1500, or which stain series will work best (and longest)?
I have a large deck made from Port Orford ceder and a covered porch made from western red ceder. live in eastern wa. not sure which product to use
Sample credits are credited after the order for a 5 gallon is placed. Just enter your sample order into the comment areas during checkout. When we process the order, we issue the credit.
I purchased 4 samples and then decided to purchase a 5 gallon container. According to the program I should get up to $15 of the sample cost applied to my order but the price reduction is not available to me.

Bret, please read:

TWP 1515 is the lightest tint.
I have a new southern yellow pine deck, i really like the way it looks wet, which twp1500 color would best match that look? I’m thinking natural or maybe honeytone. Also, as I understand I will need to clean the deck of the mill coating(?) before staining, do I also need to brighten?

Hi There,
I couldn’t find the instructions on using my shipping charges as a credit on my purchase of the actual stain. Can you let me know how I can do that? I’m looking to purchase a 5 gal 100 series stain.
Thanks!
Chintan, new wood and old wood will not match. The newer wood will be lighter in color. Best to order samples to test. Please read this as well with new wood:

I have a 15 x 20 new PT Southern Yellow Pine extension to my original deck which was 6 years old in North Carolina. I have cleaned and brightened the old portion of the deck and am choosing between the 1500 Dark Oak or Black Walnut OR the 100 Cape Cod Grey because I have dark chocolate furniture that will be placed on it. Would any of these colors pose a problem in showing the difference in age of the two deck portions? I can’t find any customer pictures of the Black Walnut or Cape Cod Grey online. Can you help with that?
Steve, I would use the 1500 Series for this deck and boathouse in Texas. Make sure to prep first with the Gemini Restore Kit first.
I have a pressure treated pine deck and boat house that has “seasoned” for two years. I am thinking of using TWP 100 Series or TWP 1500 Series.
Which do you recommend? This is in Texas
East of Dallas. Lots of heat, humidity and direct sun.
The wood should not be gray. Best to use the Gemini Restore Kit for the proper prep.
Hi,
– Used Timber Ox Green in Russet color 2 years ago. Very disappointed as color faded very badly on a deck that gets 2 – 4 hours of sun/day.
– Used Olympic Premium deck cleaner yesterday and pressure washed. Deck looks uniformly (very)gray now . Would I be ready to go with TWP 1500?
Thanks,
Bill Phelps

Yes you can use TWP in Colorado. For the prep you should remove the old stains first by using a stripper or sanding.
