I’ve read good reviews about the quality of the TWP100 as well as the 1500. I like it’s color retention(resistance to UV breaking down color).
I’d like to apply it to an outdoor kitchen surface that is Kiln dried ‘Tight Knot’ Cedar. Plan to apply to rough side. (wood is new)
Concern is the application description seems difficult. Waiting 4-12 months to acclumate, then apply some additional cost cleaner starts to make this seem less attractive.
Does the 4-12 month period still apply if the wood is Kiln Dried?
BTW: Still not clear on benefits of TWP100 vs. 1500. What do you recommend? I live in North Texas, so real hot summers and short winters.

Use the 100 Series for both. Please read this about new wood:

Any suggestions? I understand tha clear does not give the UV and appearance protection as the color stains. Thank you
The lightest tint is the Honeytone but it will enhance/darken the grain of the wood as well. It is impossible to have UV protection with a clear.

I have also used TWP101 Cedartone and it absorbed well but am not at all pleased with the color. Is masks the wood tone and is very flat. I assume this is due to the pigment. It I were to switch to Natural 1530 would I get a richer look, like you get when you add linseed oil to a wood? Does 1530 have any pigments? Am I giving up UV protection with 1530?
TWP 101 and TWP 1530 are very close in color. None of the TWP colors will mask the grain but highlight the grain. All are flat with no sheen. Please read these articles for better explanation on the colors: http://www.twpstainhelp.com/tips/need-help/twp-color-tips/

We do not make custom colors nor can TWP be applied on top of a different stain.
Are custom colors available? I am looking for a very red stain to go over a chocolate brown stain that is currently on my cedar home. Any suggestions? I am looking for a Cape Cod red, kind of like dried blood (sorry for the reference but the color is perfect). I thought a bright red over the brown might just give me the color I want. What do you think?
Thanks,
Eva Shaw

If not, do you recommend any products that can be applied on top of TWP if that look is desired? Does TWP provide protection from food and beverage spilling in addition to weather/UV protection? Interested in cape cod gray, prairie gray, natural and clear. Thanks.
TWP has no shine and a gloss product cannot be added on top. This would probably not work for this scenario.

Kiln dried should season a month and prepped first with the Gemini Restore Kit. Stain with only 1 coat of the 100 stain. We are an online dealer.
