Log Home Oil DB7300 – Autumn Brown (log accents)
Transparent Stain DB1907 – Canyon Brown (deck floors)
I’d like to transition to TWP, but don’t know which product would work best here in Colorado. For the logs the color nearest is your “Rustic” (1516) and for the log decking the color is the “Dark Oak” 1503.
Please let me know which product I should use and I’ll order samples.

Use the 100 Series. Make sure you prep by removing the Super Deck stain before applying the TWP.

Either would be fine for your area. The 115 Honeytone is slightly lighter than the 1515 Honeytone.
i have a 20 year old deck, stained several times over (full sun), I tried to strip as best as I could but still a mess (some of the old coloring did not get off); would something like TWP 1500 cover it? I was thinking of going with black walnut 1504 (closest color to old)
TWP is not a covering stain. It is best to remove the old coatings as much as possible. Shoot for 95% or more. The TWP needs to penetrate into the wood grain for maximum results.
If you stain a new deck with regular stain. Can you go over that with TWP clear and will it hold the stain color and still waterproof?
No you cannot apply the TWP clear over a regular stain of a different brand and there would be no point to use it over a TWP color.
I see there is no natural color option for the 100 series. However I see a “clear” sample option. What is the difference between natural & clear> and is there a Natural option for the 100 series? I have a deck previously stained with a natural color and would like to maintain that look.
Clear has no color and will not prevent graying. TWP 1530 Natural is tinted and is the same color as the TWP 101 Cedartone Natural. FYI, Honeytone is the lightest tint in both series.
Hi, I see you TWP100 only covers 100-200 square ft. This seems very small considering a gallon of typical stain covers 300-400 feet. Are these numbers correct? I have a 70′ x 4′ dock and your online calculator says I need 3 gallons for 280 feet. I figured 2 gallons would be more than enough but now I’m no longer sure.
TWP covers about 150-200 sq. feet for the first coat and 200-300 for the second coat. Coverage will vary based on the type of wood, age of wood, and application method. Our coverage rates are the same as other brands, we are just more honest about them. For your 280 sq. feet and two coats, you will need about 3 gallons.
Hi, Is TWP 1504 Black Walnut really black, like the inner core of the walnut? This is a semi-solid oil based stain, correct?

Semi-transparent. TWP does not make a semi-solid stain. Not black but very dark brown.

What is the difference between the 100 and the 1500 Clear products. Which should I chose? I’m looking for a product that provides superior uv protection against graying of a new deck that gets direct southern facing sunlight throughout the year. Which do you recommend or should I use the natural 1530 to get superior uv protection, as well as waterproofing?
Thank you.
Clear does not provide UV protection. It must be tinted for UV protection. Read this article for more details: http://www.twpstainhelp.com/twp-1500-colors-explained/

I am looking for a stain and sealer that is close to teak in color. Please recommend stripper and cleaner for remaining deck surface and stain.
Do your have the “shiny” sikkens version? Looks like a polyurethane? If so you cannot strip this effectively. You will need to sand it off. If you have the other version called “SRD” then that should strip with the Restore A deck Stain Stripper and pressure ashing. Use the brightener after. TWP does not have a teak color. Closest would be Rustic. We have samples to test from our site.
I am interested in the 1500 clear as we would like to protect a deck and house siding but maintaining the current color. We live in California. Still ok to stain or too late in the season? We have power washed the deck and siding of the house. Any additional prep required? If too late in the season, any other recommendations to get through the winter?
Thank you.
The clear will not provide UV protection from graying. You will need to pick one of the semi-transparent color to achieve UV protection. The wood must be clean and free of any old coatings, oxidation/graying, dirt, etc. If your prep has achieved this then you should be good to apply the TWP stain. As for weather, temperature for application should be 50+ degrees and wood needs to be dry.

You do not want to change the appearance but protect? You are okay with the natural graying? If so then you would want the 1500 Clear.

Use the 100 Series for this. TWP is a penetrating stain so no it does not get slippery when wet.

Also, looking for a medium brown semi-transparent stain that is not too much on the tranparent side and would help cover the floorboards that have weathered. The vertical surfaces are in pretty good shape. I am wondering what the pecan and rustic stains are like? Presently I have a redwood stain that I have to remove. The evenings have been getting in the low 40’s lately and am wondering if the stain will dry okay also?
Thanks,
Rick
You wil nee the 1500 Series for PA. Look at the Pecan and the Dark Oak. The Rustic is more if a red color. Prep well first so the weathered and of stain is removed. Temps are still good for staining.
