2.5 yr old pressure treated pine deck in Wisconsin.
550 to 600 sq. feet
Like the gray options in TWP100

Recently finished stripping failed Behr Semi-Transparent stain with Behr stripper, using power washer. Some stain (gray) remnant remains in gaps. Planned to use Behr all-in-one cleaner/brightener (free from Behr due to stain failure) before applying another stain. Like what we’re hearing about TWP. Necesary to use your brightener, prior to using your stain if we use Behr’s instead?
Recommend 2 coats of stain?
If so, how many gallons?
As longa as you remove all of the Behr you can use the TWP. Get some sample colors to test from the site. You will need two very light coats. 4-6 gallons should work.
Hello. I am getting ready to re-stain my cypress deck that’s close to 200sqft . I used twp1500 cedar tone when I completed the build, close to three years ago, and it has held up beautifully. However, I wasn’t absolutely thrilled with the color through the early stages. As the deck has aged, I am beginning to love the silvery/gray look. I know a basic clear stain won’t protect from uv rays so I’d like some tint for protection. I guess my question is, can I mix twp 100 stains? I sampled almost all of the colors from different manufacturers listed on this site. The twp driftwood gray had the best color tone, for my taste, but it was rather solid. Can I mix it with a 100 transparent clear (not listed on their site but I remembered reading that they do carry it)? Right now I am think a 50/50 mix but may play with it to test first. figured one gallon of each would be give me more than enough coverage. What are y’all’s thoughts? I really appreciate it!!
The TWP 100 Clear can be mixed into the other colors but as you mentioned it would be best to test first. You can get the clear from our site here.
My husband painted the cracks with a paint brush, then went over the entire deck with a roller. Where he painted the cracks turned shinny. We need to put a 2nd coat on the deck but what do we do about the shinny areas? We used 102-1 redwood. Love the color. Please help, we love the color.
There is not a way to fix this except stripping and starting over. In addition TWP needs to be applied wet on wet. If you apply the second coat now after first coat dries, most likely the whole deck will be shiny which means it did not absorb and was over applied. You eventually need to strip it off and start over. You can do this now before you apply another coat or you can apply the second coat and strip in a year or two. You will run the risk of it not absorbing though and prematurely failing.

You would need to remove the CWF first with a stain stripper and pressure washer. Apply brightner when done.

Use the Restore A Deck Stain Stripper and pressure washing to remove the old Thompsons. Use the Brightener to neutralize when done. This will prep for the TWP.

I have an old deck, I’m assuming about 20 years old. I’m assuming pine that is cracked but still solid. Unfortunately, I lapsed on maintenance so the solid stain sat on there for 7 years. I’m not sure what brand it was but it has since cracked. I have pressure washed it and most of the stain has come off with only about 10% remaining. I’ll be removing the remaining solid stain soon. The area is approx 500 sq ft. After applying TWP, do I need to apply anything else on top of it? I live in Houston, TX and the area is about 70% direct sunlight, and 30% indirect sunlight.

You do not have to use a mask when applying. Odor does linger for a few days or so. Use the 100 if allowed otherwise the 1500.
The TWP-100 application instructions call for two coats, wet-on-wet. Does the coverage-per-gallon take this into consideration? I need to cover new, rough cedar (~ 1500 sq ft) – would I need 10 gal? 15 gal? 30 gal?
150-200 sq. feet for the first coat and 200-300 for the second coat. Averages to about 100-125 sq. feet for two coats per gallon. You will need somewhere between the 10-15 gallons most likely.
