Prep first with the Restore A Deck stripper to remove the Olympic. Use the RAD brightener after to neutralize. Stain with the TWP 100 series after the prep.

Unknown type of wood- pressure treated we assume
Very grayed and molded,mildewed
It has been stained before- some type of solid stain. Most is worn off

Hello, TWP cannot be applied on top of a solid stain. It would have to be removed 100% and that would require sanding it off. Once removed you could use the 1500 Series.

Since it has been two years you should prep with the Gemini Restore Kit and apply a maintenance coat of the TWP:
I think I have been using 1500. I did new deck after it sat for 9 months and then reapplyed 12 months later. I skipped last year, but it really could have used another application.
Results have been just ok. It doesn’t peel but fades quicker than I hoped.
I have used the pecan color. I am thinking or trying the TWP 100 this spring after our pollen dies down. Do I need to strip or just continue to use the cleaner / brighter before application?
You can use the Gemini Restore Kit for the prep for this.

8-12 hours is best.
I have been waiting days with rain forecasted for another week to stain my pergola. I have been waiting for a 48 hour window as that is what is stated on the can. Are you saying 12 or so hours of “dry” is ok?
That’s a minimum and is usually okay but it does vary on the wood, exposure, temperature, sun, application amount, etc. Hence in some cases it can take as long as 48 hours to dry.
Large deck, 6 years old , treated pine,2′ above ground in Dallas.North facing but gets so hot it burns feet. The original boards cracked, split, seeped sap. Replaced 1/3 of surface boards last Sept some remaining boards also have cracks but replacing all was cost prohibitive. The original deck stained with Cabot solid in dark color. Ready to stain entire deck now. My research brought me to you. I am an Interior Designer shared my findings with my clients. Several used your product successfully. My clients are high-end their subs knowledgeable and precise but I will be using the local “best deal”. My product choice probably 100 series in darkest brown. Your stains not available in Dallas so whomever I hire will look to me for direction on application . I want to do what is necessary but not go overboard on the prep, doing what you suggest. I believe they wanted to sand the deck but not sure. I will probably put down the second coat myself next year. Please advise.
TWP cannot be applied on top of a solid stain. That would have to be removed fully first by power sanding. You should then clean and brighten the wood after the sanding for final prep. Use the TWP 103 dark oak for the color you wanted.

KDAT should season for a month after install and you need to prep first with the Gemini Restore Kit to remove mill glaze. Only one coat of the TWP 100 Series. You do not apply a sealer over top of a deck stain. No need.

4. Previously treated with Cabot Australian Timber Oil (natural)

You have to remove the Cabot first with pressure washing and the Restore A Deck Stripper. Make sure to apply the brightener when done. Once prepped well, you can use the TWP 1500.
Regarding my just previous question about my pergola. Seems like most if not all the instructions pertain to DECKS. This is a vertical structure, so I would imagine that effects application and time of application. An additional point. This is rough sawn cedar. Everything seems to be written re: smooth wood. Do I still have a waiting period? And in Austin tx, would you rec. 100 or 1500?
As the one article mentions, if rough wood you do not need to wait:

Application is the same no matter the wood structure.

1) Does rough cut cedar have to age before I apply TWP 100?
2) If not, does the new wood still have to be treated with Gemini Restore A Deck before applying the TWP 100 product?
1. No it does not.
2. No prep either is needed if rough cut.

You must alwasy remove previous coatings when switching to TWP. The Restore A Deck stripper works very easily on removing Penofin. Make sure to use a wood brightener after the stripping is done.

I would like to keep the seasoned look, what TWP would best suit my need. But another question I have not been able to get resolved. I know that the TWP seals the wood from weather damage, but I would like the high thick gloss look? Is that even an option in using the TWP? Please help with any suggestions that you might have or aide with.
Thank you!
Neela Brown
TWP does not create a shine/gloss and that type of look does not work well for exterior wood. As for a weathered look, you would want the TWP in the clear so it will not change the appearance and or prevent the natural UV graying (oxidation) that you like.

No, TWP cannot be applied on top of Behr. You would need to remove the Behr first by stripping and sanding.
