I have a 6 year old 5 gallon pail of TWP 101 & it has become quite coagulated with thick chunks of rubbery like substance. Is there anything I can do to make this usable?

Many thanks

I took the pail to a paint store and had it shook first and i also stirred myself for a good 10 min. What is this and will it have any effect if i can get it to dissolve back into liquid?
This is just pigment settling and yes you have to mix/stir this back into the stain.

You do not let the first coat dry. Wet on wet is correct:

Type of wood? Cedar shingles – sidewall
Wood Condition: New – Dried for over a year
Stained Previously: No
Area to be treated: Entire house
Location: About the same Latitude as
Tawas City, MI (44°07’36.1″N) ie snows in the winter:)
Color: Cape Code Gray (so more of a semi solid)
Area: About 1600 ft2

With the info above, what would you recommend as the best way to apply TWP-100? I was thinking of either spraying with an airless sprayer of brushing.

Should I use two coats?

Also, does it make sense to protect the lower half of the backside of the shingles on areas just above the shed roof that goes around the house (due to splashing)?

Thanks
Dan
Apply the two light coats by spraying on the first coat then immediately back brushing the second coat. You will need about 10-15 gallons. No need to stain the back sides.

You need to remove the Sikkens and that can be somewhat difficult. The RAD Stain Stripper and pressure washing will be your best option. Apply and repeat if needed until all the sikkens has been removed. Apply a wood brightener to the wood after all has been stripped. Use the TWP 1500 Series.

You can use a 3000 psi pressure washer. It is only 3000 psi when you are directly at the tip. when you are 8-12 inches away, the pressure drops in half or less.

I have a 3 year old cedar deck of about 665 square feet plus some benches. When I built it, I allowed the wood to cure for 3 months. I cleaned and prepared the wood as TWP recommends. Then I applied 1 coat of TWP 100 Cedartone.
I will clean them soon. Should I apply a second coat of 100 TWP? We live in San Antonio. Our deck is heavily shaded, and our main problems are with mold, mildew, and algae because after rainfall, the deck stays wet for 2 or 3 days.

Use the 100 Series. Should last 3-6 years on the fence. Not sure what you consider “too dark” as that is an opinion. TWP preserves and protects better the the Flood.

Do you mean 400 linear feet for the fence? Id so and you are doing both sides you have 4800 sq. feet if 6 feet high. Is that correct? If so you will need much more then 15 gallons for this.

Hello, again. You have instructed me to go ahead & clean, brighten & stain these areas of pine & PTP. Even if the 1×12 pine boards are butted up directly next to the stained cedar walls beneath them? We will have to tarp all of the walls/sides to accomplish, which we will do. But, just double-checking. Don’t want to ruin all of our hard work & investment. Thank you.
