At best I will have 28-36 hrs of dry weather after applying TWP 100.
Doesn’t look good by waiting as needing 48 hrs to dry after a rain really complicated things. What is the minimum time for stain to set up before a rain event.

I own a restoration company and have used TWP since the mid 90’s. I’ve stained near 1000 decks. Ive had it rain on some decks in a far shorter time, 2 hours, and no adverse effects. A lot will do with the temperature and if your deck is in direct sunlight or not. If it’s shaded, takes far greater time to dry, so be mindful of the forecast and use live radar. So if it happens to rain shortly after it’s stained, don’t think it’s ruined. Most likely it’ll be fine. If water is allowed to sit for a long period of time,(24 hours plus) you can get water rings, so wipe up puddling if needed after the rain. It is oil based, so it does repel water immediately.
Age of wood – New
Type of wood – Bald Cypress timber columns/beams and 2×6 T&G spruce ceiling/decking
Wood Condition – New and all is sanded all sides. The cypress columns/timbers do have some checking.
There is no finish currently on either the spruce or cypress.
I am in Western North Carolina near Tennessee on a mountain at around 3000′ elevation. The exposure is due north.
Which product do you recommend and do you custom mix colors? The ceiling will be well protected but the column/beams will be exposed to the elements for the most part.

After the wait and prep, use th TWP 100 Series. We do not custom mix.
I recently bought the TWP 100 and applied it to my deck two days ago after prepping it with RAD stripper/brightener. I think I applied the stain too heavily as it is very tacky to the touch and the color still comes off on my hand. Will I have to strip it again and redo it? Or just wait longer for it to harden?
It will dry, just give it more time.

Just started to apply 105 cape cod gray to my never treated, 1 yr old fence. I prepped as directed and had friend apply the stain.
When I got home I realized it was not the color I wanted. It’s very opaque and almost white. I live in a neighborhood with a HOA, and the cape cod gray will not be approved.
I should have, and thought I had ordered the 106 prairie gray. Only 3, 5′ x 6′ panels stained on one side. I only ordered 2 gallons, which will not complete the job anyway.
Questions:
1. Can I remove the stain already applied and apply new color?
2. Can I return 1 unopened gallon of 105 cape cod gray and order 5 gallons of the 106 prairie gray?

Had issues with bad stain application from another company a couple years ago. Just power washed, stripped and then sanded the wood, live in Michigan, deck faces south with no shade. Do you suggest TWP100?

I have a 600 sq ft pressure treated deck, 20 years old and in good condition in Denver CO. Weather is hot summer, rain, hail, snow, high UV due to altitude. Sanded to bare wood 3 years ago and stained with oil based semi transparent stain (Cabots?). Deck is half covered by a roof and half open. The open half is much more faded. Covered half looks nearly new. I want to use TWP Ceadartone. What procedure do you recommend?

Strip it all to bare wood, brighten, sand, hand brush no more than two boards at the same time going with the grain. Do not stop until each board is complete or you will have overlap marks.

For maximum effectiveness to maintain the color of a new cedar fence, is it necessary to cover your fence with a clear coat polyurethane AFTER you have stained it with TWP 100?
You can never apply a sealer or coating over a deck stain like TWP. It will peel.
We applied a coat of the 100 stain on raw cedar that I waited for the mill glaze to wear off of. Cleaned the wood as directed and then had an issue come up that prevented us from adding a second coat which I think It needed. It has been about 36 hours now. Can I app,y again directly over this coat as it is?

The decks are 21 yo pressure treated wood, and was previously stained with oil-based. Both are exposed to the sun and in shades 50% during the day. My contractor said that he’ll power wash it first.
Newer treated pine deck and screened in porch floor that has been sitting for one year and never stained. The deck is in the Georgia sun for most of the day. I am planning on staining with TWP100 Prairie Gray. Hopefully, 1 coat. What prep would you recommend prior to staining? I do plan on brushing on stain in early June.

Approx. 2 yrs ago I applied TWP 116 to my new 20′ x 14′ deck here in Raleigh, NC that is exposed to sun 7 hrs per day after it was 3 months installed. Now it is faded and seems a new coat is needed as the wood is slightly splintering and color has faded. I was thinking of moving to the 200 series to get more oil on it so it lasts longer than 2 years. Three questions:
1) Can I use 200 series over the 100 series that I applied with the above conditions and will it last longer and color stay truer?
2) Is it possible to move to a gray color over existing red color of the 116?
3) What is best way to prep given the above conditions?

I recently pressure washed my gates and fence. I don’t remember what stain I used almost 12 years ago. I read the reviews for TWP 100 and I wanted to give it a try. I’m just outside L.A. in Woodland Hills and it gets really hot here in the summer. I don’t want to change the color too much (see photo of before and after pressure washed) and it would be great to see some of the imperfections in the wood. Which TWP would you recommend?

The TWP 1500 is what you need to CA. The 100 is not allowed there.
I already pressure washed it a week ago. Looks good right now. Do I still need to brighten? Does the 1500 come in the cedar?
The 1500 does come in Cedartone.
Brightener and cleaner would help the appearance but if you are happy with the cleaning, then you can stain now.
My 2nd story covered cedar deck was last treated about 5 years ago with a Behr stain, which is almost completely worn off. In August 2018 I had a lot of the deck boards replaced and new stairs built using cedar. This summer we will have a deck company power wash everything and then apply TWP 101 Cedartone. Is that sufficient or do they also have to do the Restore Kit prep?
100% of the old stain must be removed and the use of the RAD prep products will aid with this. never a good idea to just use a pressure washer for prep without proper prep products. Too much pressure can damage the wood.
Installed a new privacy fence in Michigan at the end of July last year. I did not apply any stain and left it bare through winter. 6×6 PT Pine posts with Rough Cut Cedar slats. Rough sawn wood will not need to be prepped as long as it clean and dry. For the two coats applied wet on wet, you will need 30-35 gallons for 3520 sq feet. Coverage does vary based on application method and wood porosity.

Is the wood rough sawn or smooth wood? You cannot stain new smooth right away. If rough sawn, you can do now as long as the wood is clean and dry. About 20-30 gallons for the two coats applied wet on wet.

Use the TWP in the same series for both areas. You cannot apply a top coat of clear on the stain. It will not soak in and will not help.
Redwood deck being installed currently in Colorado. What color TWP will best show off the beautiful patterns and colors while offering great uv protection? Thanks for the info. I’m still unsure which is the better choice for us, the 1500 or the 100. We’re thinking of either the Honeytone or Cedartone. It seems that the 1500 is great for people who can’t get the 100, we live in CO, so we can get either. The deck is North facing, so ample sun in the summer, but zero in the winter. Need to know what I ordered in the past. Just bought 101 TWP Stain. It is to dark brown. Know I accidentally ordered this two years ago and did not use. Then ordered a lighter Cedar Stain. I like the color of the lighter stain. Is there a 100 Cedar Stain? Can you check please so that I can order the lighter stain.
The only past order we see in your email address is from 2015 and that was for TWP 101 Cedartone. The only lighter tinted color is the 115 Honeytone.
How do you remove TWP 300 from deck? There are many areas that you can scrap off with your fingernail. Some areas turned black. And after all said and done, is the 1500 series the best stain for the deck floor? Also, which is the best stain for the deck siding which drops down our slope and has a door. It’s about 15″. Thanks

We just stained our fence with the rustic stain and it is slightly more red then we wanted. If we came back with another coat of Dark Oak would we get a more brown tone or would it make a crazy color?
It will not be able to “take” another coat now. Best would be to wait a few months or a year and remove the Rustic if you want to switch colors.

Unfortunately, what you want to do is not possible. For UV protection from graying, you must have a color/tint in your stain. This will also enhance or change the color of your wood. 15 year old rough sawn waney pine siding that was stained with a Cabot stain about 10 years ago. It didn’t weather well as you can see in the before and after shots.
I power washed with sodium percolate this spring but was unable to complete the job. You can see how quickly it grayed out.
I would like to apply the TWP 1515 or TWP 101 this fall. How would you suggest I proceed?

How do you remove TWP stain spots/drips (Black Walnut) from brick pavers? Mineral spirits did not work. Please advise.
Try a graffiti remover cleaner and pressure washing. You should find some in the paint department of a local store.
I built a redwood deck about 6 months ago and it has not been stained previously. I want to protect the wood in some way but I don’t want to alter the color too much because it looks great as is. Is there any tint in the TWP 100 series that looks good on redwood or should I go with the clear? Thank you for your help.
