I would stay with the 1501 as it is the replacement for the 501.

Carl, try the Gemini Restore Kit for the prep and apply a light coat of stain.
I applied TWP 116 to a new cypress deck last summer by cloth saturated with stain followed by wiping excess with a dry rag. It looked very nice and repelled water very well at first. This summer it began to turn dark (almost black) and spotted, and it lost it’s ability to repel water. What is the best treatment plan now?

Yes you would need to remove all of the SW if you want the TWP to work correctly.

Steven, the Clear will not prevent UV graying. Must have a tint/color.
New 750 sq ft cedar deck about 4 months old. Never stained or sealed. Plan to use 100 series clear. Will the cedar continue to “grey” with age or will the clear TWP lock in the current color?

I estimate the vertical portions (fencing boards) to be about 4200 square feet – this does not include the 3 rails (which total about 1000 linear feet of 2X4), the nooks and crannies between the fencing boards, or the roughly 50 vertical 4X4 posts (Total linear feet of about 330 ft).[/quote]
You will need about 6-8 of the 5 gallons pails.

Jane333, VOCs are the major difference. Both perform similar.
What is the difference between 100 and 1500 series? Is there any difference besides the VOCs? I already bought
Behr stripper and brightener. Are they acceptable for the preparation process? My deck is 19 years old pressure treated with deep cracks. I am trying to choose between TWP and going with one of the last-ditch effort products like Restore.
Kathleen Patton, TWP is not legal for Canada’s VOC laws.
Ge, you should be okay with the temps. Allow to dry for 48 hours after the prep.
LarryL, you cannot apply TWP on top of Thompsons. It would need to be removed first.
Just bought a house with a 3 yr. old wood fence. A neighbor said it had been treated with Thompsons. It looks pretty good and has very little fading. Could I apply TWP 100 over the Thompsons and expect good results? I am looking at about 2500 sq ft of fence so cleaning would not be a minor project.
i want to restain my deck this fall. the nights are into the 40’s now. daytime in the upper 60’s or low 70’s. i used this product/cedartone about 3 years ago. i plan on powerwashing/cleaning the deck before hand. how long should the deck dry before staining and will it be ok to stain with the nightime temps?
I have a pressure washed and sanded older deck with treated spruce (I believe). I’m located in Quebec, Canada. I’d like to try your TWP stain if it can be shipped to Vermont which is close by. Which stain would be better to withstand the extremes – TWP 100 or 1500?
Drew, lightly rinse with water for the prep. If the wood is rough sawn, apply two light coats wet on wet. Lightly spray on a first coat and apply another coat immediately with a brush or stain pad. We need a total sq. footage to give an idea on quantity needed.

Rick, prep first with the Gemini Restore kit and stain with either the 100 or 1500. Use stain pads for application.
Hans, new wood should weather for a few months, even kiln dried. Samples can be bought from our website. Pricing is on the website as well. I would use the 100 if allowed in your state. I can be used on new and older wood.
I have a brand new deck and stairs constructed of number 1 kiln-dried lumber. I also have a deck that is 18 years old, gray colored, but in excellent condition (covered balcony of 200 sq. ft on third level). Should I use series 100, series 1500 or can I use either series on new as well as properly prepped aged wood?
What stripper, reconditioned should I use on the aged wood?
I plan to just power wash the new wood. I figure I need 15 gallon of stain. Do you have color samples that I can see?

The deck i want to treat is 5 years old. It is pressure treated pine. The wood is sun bleached and dry, The overall condition of the deck is good. The deck itself is about 700 square feet not including rail and handholds attached to deck surface. What is the best product for me? I am dissabled so i need to best type of application instructions taking this into account.

TWP is not a covering stain but an enhancing stain. It may darken it so it does not stand out. Try heavy rinsing to remove the excess pulp.
I am attempting to clean and stain 3 buildings and decks. Two buildings are grayed T-11 siding (fir?), and one is board and batten rough sawn pine (I think). I think cuprinol was used 10+ years ago. When I bleach and pressure wash, a sort of white “pulp” seems to “grow” out of the wood. The color of the T-11 comes back somewhat, but bleaching makes the pine turn an ugly white/green color. The wood hasn’t dried out yet to test color and adhesion, but I am wondering if TWP Cedartone will “cover” this white… Also, what do I need to do with this “pulp”? It will brush off with a coarse brush… But I have 3 complete buildings…

would like to order 2 of the Gemini wood prep kits as well as 3 5 gallon buckets of TWP honey tone. Would first like to verify that you can send me 3 5 gallon buckets with matching batch numbers so the color of the stain is consistent on the deck.

I’m trying to figure out which of your stains to use on a cedar fence that has been in place for about 6 months. as with most fences it receives full sun. the summer here in missouri has been fairly hot so it should be quite dry by this time..

Western Cedar fencing 160 ft. installed in spring been 5 months. TWP-100 can says wait 6-12 months. I was thinking you said previously 4 mo. was long enough. Just wondering should we wait another month or two?

Andrew, yes you would wan the 100 Series. Make sure that all of the old stain ans removed first. Using a stripper and wood brightener will help.
5 yr old PTP deck and porch both covered in Charlotte NC. Both have never been stained and are in good condition. Both also were professionally cleaned with a cleaner solution a couple months ago. We were planning on ordering and doing this in the next week or two so we would like your recommendations on which product.
Florida pressure treated dock on salt water…. Approx 15 yrs old, but 40% has been replaced over the past 5 yrs.. Have used super deck products for the past ten years but had to buy there water based product two yrs ago and very unhappy… I pressure wash the deck before applying stain.. Total of 800 sq ft….. Usually takes 7 gallons of stain… Assume TWP 100 is the best product for my application…. Thanks ……..

Stained my deck and Pergola with cedar tone 100 this spring .the results after a complet restore process on the deck were great. Shoul I clean and brighten this fall and apply a second coat before winter?
Dave Martin, you are ready to go now since it has been about 4 months. Prep first with the Gemini Restore Kit and apply only one coat of the stain the first time.

HL Manning, either would be fine but the 1500 has a little more solids so it will give slightly better UV protection.
