Our redwood deck is five years old. The wood is in good condition. It was previously stained twice with Honey Teak Cabot Australian Timber Oil. The first time the ATO was oil-based, second time was water-based, which didn’t last as well. Do you have a color that is similar to Honey Teak?
red wood, constructed April 15th, wood in pretty good condition, though it has been wet a lot. Not previously stained, area is flat and area is 22 feet by 24 feet. We don’t want to add much colour and need it to be mildew/uv protected.
Look at the the TWP 1515 for the lightest color with Uv protection and mold prevention. Prep first with Gemini Restore Kit and only one coat for the new wood.

No you cannot add a sealer on top of the TWP.

Prep with the Restore A Deck Stripper and pressure washing. Use the Restore A Deck Brightener when done. Stain with the 1500 Series after it dries in a few days.

We put a second coat on it and did not wipe down the excess stain so now it looks shiny and is tacky. I know that we didn’t put the stain on correctly. Is there anything we can do now to fix it. Thanks.
It’s probably pine, maybe cedar, in okay condition for Colorado, about 200 sq. ft., and has been stained previously a dark reddish brown, although I don’t know what kind, since I bought the house in 2003. I’ve sanded it, but do I really need to clean it?
Yes you should clean after sanding to help the penetration of the TWP.
I’m staining a pressure treated porch deck that has aged 4 months. I had planned on cleaning it with Restore A Deck and doing two coats wet on wet, however the product data for TWP 1500 says to clean with bleach water and rinse/power wash then later “Apply only _one_ coat to new horizontal wood.” Is bleach wash and one coat sufficient?
Do not use bleach but the kit. Just one coat for new wood:
Our deck is white cedar, 5/4 thick by 4 inches. It was built about 25 years ago. A few replacement boards are 1 year old. The condition of the wood is generally good. It has been stained with multiple products over the decades and was stripped with Orange Stuff three years ago. Since then it has been treated three times with Cabots Australian Oil Stain, the product with the blue lid (once per year in the late Spring). Now, in areas where it gets direct Sun for a few hours a day, it is peeling off revealing uncoated wood. If I overcoat with the same product it will look blotchy, so I am looking for a new, penetrating stain. The total area is about 500 square feet. The deck is 18 inches above ground and is on the north side of the house. Located 40 miles west of Chicago. Yard is shady with trees. Any advice on prep/stripping and coating would be appreciated.
You must remove the Cabot first if you would like the use the TWP. Use the Restore A Deck stain stripper and pressure washing to remove. Use the Restore A Deck Brightener when done with the stripping.
I applied 1500 stain 24 hours ago to a deck that was stripped with restore,it is still not dry. How long will it take to dry the weather has been sunny in70’s
It may have been over applied, hence the longer drying time. Give it a few days.
Hi — I stained by pressure treated deck last fall at my house in Long Island, NY. The deck was three years old, professionally installed using the highest quality lumber and was stained with another product after 6 months of weathering and proper preparation. That product failed miserably, flaking and discoloring after less than six months. I spent many hours preparing to use TWP — pressure washed + your recommended stain removers + tons of elbow grease in the form of sanding and surface preparation. The wood looked brand new and quickly absorbed water. The TWP 1520 went on flawlessly and looked beautiful — more like furniture than a deck, with the natural grain showing through beautifully. After only one winter, however, the color has faded to a much lighter color, although it still repels water just fine. The color now is not far from a shade or two darker than natural. I loved the original, darker color. Any suggestions on what I should do now.
Thanks for your help.

Light maintenance coat to the floor. Use a cleaner (not stripper) to remove the dirt and such and apply one coat only to the floors.
I have a 10 year old cedar deck. The wood is in good condition, but the stain is peeling badly. It is a solid stain product from Behr. I have tried to remove the stain with a stripper and a power washer and even after 8 hours working on it, I have only been able to get most of the stain off half the deck. Even then, there are still spots I have not been able to remove. My question is what is the best product to remove the remainder? And if I can’t get all of it off, do you have a solid stain that will work. In addition, I have a raised connecting deck that I built of pressure treated wood that is holding the stain fine. It is a solid redwood stain color. How opaque is your stain?
Solid stains cannot be removed effectively with a stripper. You will need to sand it all off. TWP does not have an opaque stain and it cannot be applied on top of one.
Just built a brand new (last week) pressure treated pinewood dock on a lake here in Orlando, Florida. (Since new, it obviously has not been stained before). How long do I wait before staining it? And what do you recommend the twp 100 or 1500. I can not tell the difference? Also, I was told to stain it with a more solid color so it would last longer, but all of your stains are semi-transparent, correct?
Thanks for your feedback,

Yes TWP is only semi-transparent colors. Use the 100 Series but read this first about TWP and new wood:
