TWP 1500 Series Deck Stain – The Best Low VOC Deck Stain
Need Help with your TWP 1500 Stain?
TWP 1500 Stain is a highly rated, EPA registered wood preservative that can be used for all types of exterior wood, siding and decking. TWP 1500 Stain will perform at its maximum potential when the wood is properly prepped and when the stain is properly applied. Unfortunately not all wood is in the same condition prior to applying the stain.
We are here to help with your project!
Please answer these few questions to achieve the best possible results with your TWP 1500 Wood and Decking Stain.
- Age of wood?
- Type of wood?
- Condition of the wood?
- Has it been stained previously and if so with what brand of stain?
- Small description of the area to be treated.

Prep to restore the color and remove the graying with the Gemini Restore Kit. Stain with the TWP 1500 series after it dries to two days. Two light coats applied “wet on wet” for more tips, please see here: http://www.twpstainhelp.com/

Treated pine in mainly good condition, stained in Cabot semi-transparent stain. Wondering if you carry a solid stain so all decks will be a consistent color. Also, what do you recommend.
We do not have a solid stain. Prep by stripping all decks and brightening with the Restore A Deck products. Once clean and free of old coatings, you should get a consistent appearance.
Sanded all paint off exterior 1940 yellow pine siding in Florida. Tweaking paint flecks off and washing off paint film a few times, tannin comes back. I like the tannin. Do I have to get it all out of the wood before I use 100 series, 101 Cedartone? Does tannin come through the stain? I don’t care if it does as long as the wood stays protected. I have not cleaned and brightened yet. s
It does not harm the wood just shows the tannin stains under the TWP. You do need to clean and brighten for the prep. Brightener does remove tannin stains in most scenarios.
Hello,
I have a customer that purchased dark oak TWP but meant to order a lighter shade. Not realizing she had ordered the incorrect color, she hired some people to paint the dark oak on her new fence. Do you have any suggestions for removing TWP from a bamboo fence? Any suggestions or help you could offer would be greatly appreciated :).
Thank you!
Heather
You will need to use the Restore A Deck Stripper and pressure washing to remove. You may need a few applications of stripper to get it off.

I cleaned it once and must clean it again before I stain with 1500 (cuz it’s been 3 weeks). Is the purpose of brightening it only to bring out the wood’s color? It seems to have a nice color with just cleaning it. Should I brighten it; if so, why?
Brightener neutralizes the deck cleaner or stain stripper, leaving the wood in a neutral pH balance. Also will help “swell” the pores of the wood so stain can penetrate a little better.

Just looking to give the fence some color while maintaining the nice look of the cedar grain. I’m working with about a 1200 sq ft area. I like the Cedartone, but it may be too light. The dark oak, however, seems too dark. I’m trying to avoid a red color at all costs (wife’s orders). Any photos of what these two colors look like “in the wild,” i.e., in a finished project? Any help would be appreciated.
Dark Oak is a very dark brown. Might want to look at Pecan. See this article for more help on colors: http://www.twpstainhelp.com/twp-100-color-choices-and-tips/

Should I seal the deck to aid in the drying process? I heard you can seal right away?
Should I use gemini to prep?
When should I stain the deck? The deck has a gingo tree and a locust tree 2 feet away. I want to prevent mold/mildew growth. I do not want the deck to turn green or black.
I have a red tulip brick house. What color do you recommend? Has some red/grey/greenish/black bricks.
How warm does the temperate have to be?
Just lightly wash to remove any dirt. You can do this with a low concentrated mixture of the Gemini Kit. About 3-4 oz per gallon of water. Apply one light coat of the TWP.
