Prep first with the Gemini Restore Kit. As for colors, we would suggest some samples: http://www.twpstain.com/stain-samples

Yes the TWP offers UV protection. For KDAT wood, we suggest letting it sit for a few weeks after install. Prep with the Gemini Restore Kit to remove the mill glaze and apply 1 coat of stain this year. Apply another light coat in 12 months. Use the TWP 1500 Series.

Yes you can spray the TWP but you will need to back brush the stain to ensure it applies evenly and penetrates well. Yes you need the RAD cleaner for the prep.

The last stain got black mold. Please recommend best stain. I power cleaned it yesterday. I can’t get all the old stain off but got all the loose to spray off.
TWP does not make a solid stain so it will not work. You can use our Deck Revive:

Use the Permabond first.

I would like to know where I may purchase a spray can, if you even sell TWP in spray cans, to preserve a new mailbox stand and the answers to the questions follow:
1. New
2. Cedar
3. Excellent
3. The pole has yet to be stained
4. Approximately 1 piece of cedar 4′ high and 4×4″
I believe the product I would like is your TWP 1530 Natural although defer to your best recommendation.
Thanks in advance and have a terrific Thursday!
All my very best,
Richard Townsend
We do not sell spray cans, just gallon sizes. The 1530 would work well.

Prep with the Gemini Restore Kit. I am assuming this is rough cut wood? if so you can apply two light coats “wet one wet”. You will need roughly 12-16 gallons for the two coats when applying to 1600 sq. feet. Use either the 1500 or 100.

Either the 100 Series or the 1500 will work well. Make sure that your prep includes not only cleaning but removal of any old coatings.

My first selection was your TWP 1500 clear, but, It appears the TWP 1500 clear stain offer no UV protection. All the colored stain will protect from UV graying. The darker the tint, the greater the UV protection will be. The Honeytone color is the lightest tint with Uv protection.

The decking is Ipe which, we are just cleaning and applying a conditioner to and letting the wood gray naturally. The railings are our concern. We what them stained very dark (just ordered your 1500 series dark oak and black walnut samples)any advice ? The mahogany is new and has been exposed to weather for about two months, sanded with 80grit than 120 grit(will sand again). Railings will be washed down and then cleaned with acetone prior to staining. Looking for durability and ease of recoating when the time comes. We live on a body of salt water in the New York area. Your products get great reviews, any advice you might have would be appreciated. Thank you.
No more sanding. Prep with the Gemini Kit before staining to open the grain. Acetone may help to swell the wood pores but is not a cleaner.

Interested in 1500 in the grey.
How many coats will be required? How should I proceed. Fence is the shadow box style so it will be difficult to do.
What is drying time?
Fence just completely power washed. Will it hurt to wait for spring to stain?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Dianna
Sorry but the 1500 does not come in a gray color. 2 coats applied wet on wet. Spray on the stain and back wipe drips. You can wait until Spring but you will probably need to lightly wash again to remove any oxidation.

Cedartone 1501 put on our log home in 2010. We re-stained a south facing wall last summer, and noticed that the stain is absorbing into the wood differently and it is redder than originally. We need to stain more south and west facing walls next summer, but I want it all to match the north and east sides. and I’m hoping we don’t have to re-stain the whole house just for a couple of walls because much of it that was protected by porches still looks great!
Yes you will most likely need to stain all at the same time so it looks the same.
