Need Help with your TWP 1500 Stain?
TWP 1500 Stain is a highly rated, EPA registered wood preservative that can be used for all types of exterior wood, siding and decking. TWP 1500 Stain will perform at its maximum potential when the wood is properly prepped and when the stain is properly applied. Unfortunately not all wood is in the same condition prior to applying the stain.
We are here to help with your project!
Please answer these few questions to achieve the best possible results with your TWP 1500 Wood and Decking Stain.
- Age of wood?
- Type of wood?
- Condition of the wood?
- Has it been stained previously and if so with what brand of stain?
- Small description of the area to be treated.

Prep by removing the woodgaurd with the Restore A Deck Striper and a pressure washer. After the stripping is done, use the Wood Brightener to neutralize.

Stain pad or brush. You can also spray on with a pump sprayer then back wipe to ensure it applies evenly.

I have an 15 yer old deck that has had various stains throughout the years. The last one applied was a semi transparent stain from Cabot and i want to remove any traces and stain w one of your products.
The wood is pressure treated pine and wanted your opinion on clean up, the type of stain, and some color suggestions. I prefer lighter colors than dark stain.
The deck is about 300 square feet and has railings all around.
I live in NJ so it goes through a variety of seasons. The deck is semi covered by maple trees and gets sun on only a portion of the deck.
Thanks
Steve
Prep with the Restore A Deck Stain stripper to remove. Apply and pressure was off. Repeat if needed so all is removed. Apply the Wood Brightener after. Let dry for a few days and use the TWP 1500 Series for NJ. Honeytone is the lightest tint.

TWP 100 and 1500 series are oil based. Which to use on new wood depends on your state VOC laws. Use the 100 of you can, otherwise the 1500.

You can do 2 light coats applied wet on wet since it is 3 years old.
I’m trying to understand the difference in 100 vs 1500. One says it prevents mold and mildew and one just says not prone to mold and mildew. One says it sheds water longer. Is that longer than 100 or just longer than competitors?
The 1500 is more expensive so would that mean it is better?
My wood is regular pressure treated deck boards from Home Depot. Installed this past December. So, I think I am at a point where the wood is ready.
Thanks.
Hi, I had a shed built out of rough pine in December 2015 and am looking to apply the first ever coat of stain now, in May 2016 (5 months old). The wood is in excellent condition, but again it is not smooth at all but rough cut. Never stained before, and only areas to be stained are the upright walls. What prep should be done and how best should the stain be applied. I would prefer the natural color. Thanks!
Use the Gemini Restore Kit for the prepping. Stain with TWP 1530 Natural. Apply with a brush or deck staining pad.

The 100 is not allowed in MD so you will need to use the 1500 Series and works well there. Make sure the wood is clean and free of the Cabot before using the TWP.
