The fence was completed about 6 weeks ago. How long should I wait to stain and do you have any other suggestions. I have determined that I will probably need 15-20 gallons.
Are you doing both sides? If so you will need twice the amount. Rough sawn wood? Most fences are and if so can be stained right away. If smooth wood see this:

Hard to say it depends on how well you prep. Best to test the stain colors with samples from our site.

My new contractor has tried power washing and washing with deck cleaner but isn’t able to remove it. Would TWP 1500 be appropriate in this situation in Denver? If not, what would you recommend instead?
Thanks
You will need to remove the CWF if you want to use TWP. Has the contractor tried a stain stripper when pressure washing?

Remove the Cabot by stripping, pressure washing, and sanding if needed. Apply the wood brightener after. Make sure the logs are free of any dirt and old coatings before applying the TWP 1500. @ light coats applied wet on wet.
What will happen if I use TWP 1501 cedar over my peeling behr cedar finish? I got up the loose behr stain with my pressure washer but am not going to take the time to sand. It is OK with me if the only issue is I’m a t risk of the behr continuing to peel where it is still attached. After a few years doing this and maybe touching up with TWP between full applications, won’t my whole deck eventually be fully TWP protected?
It will not work. The Behr has to be removed first. Use a stain stripper and pressure wash again. Shoot for 95-100% removal.

2. Cedar
3. Dirty
4. Previously stained with Sherwin Williams Deckscapes Semi-Transparent.
5. Deck, railings, steps and lattice along 3 sides of the deck. Deck balusters are black metal.
Start by removing the SW product. Use the Restore A Deck Stripper kits. SW can be stubborn to remove, so you will need a pressure washer and might need to strip more than once. Once removed, apply the Brightener. Stain with the TWP 1500.

Thanks
It has to be prepped correctly for the stain to work correctly.

Thanks
Since it has been two years, you should prep with the Gemini Restore Kit and reapply the TWP.

I will get a brand new Western Red Cedar wood for exterior siding. It has been acclimated in a local area nearby under sun/shade for at least 6 months. It will get a smooth face with grooves much like the Eichler style siding.
What kind of prep work is needed? Originally, I planned to light sand them and then apply the stain throughout the wood with the TWP 1500 dark tint stain. It’s about 1600 sq ft worth of siding. I hope to mix a few of the available TWP tints together to get that blackish look much like charred burnt stain.
This home is located in Bay Area, California.
Thank you!
You should clean and brighten for prep to “open” the wood grain for the pores. Just one coat on new wood.

Ontario Cedar – 1000 ft sq.
Good condition with minimal cracking but allowed to weather and grey
Stained with numberous brands over the years (Sikens Cetol DEK, Behr, than just THompson weather treat . . . . stains all peeled even Sikens which was 6 side coated on every board).

To be able to use the TWP you will need to remove all old coatings. Either strip and or sand to remove. Brighten wood after. Stain with TWP 1500 Series after removal and drying.
