TWP 1520 Pecan is one of the 2 newest colors for the 1500 Series. This color is a lighter brownish/cedar color of the 1501 Cedartone.
TWP 1500Â Series is available in 9 semi-transparent color choices that penetrate into the wood while enhancing the natural wood grain. The 1500 Series is higher in solids content which may result in “richer” colors than the 100 Series. In general, the 1500 Series color will not match the colors in the 100.
Final TWP 1520 Pecan color will vary based on:
- Type of Wood
- Age of Wood
- Prepping of Wood
- Application method

Hello, which color is lighter? Pecan or natural? On pressure treated. Thx!
Honeytone is the lightest color. Pecan and Natural are both about the same in how much color but Pecan is slightly more brown.
Worked great!
What is the difference between pecan and cedar tone? Both are a brownish cedar color. But the pecan is just slightly lighter?
Correct.
I have an unopened gallon of 1520 that was bought 04/2020. Would it be ok to use?
It should be as long as it did not freeze.
New Colorado construction rough cut pine. Thinking of Pecan. Best application for two coats? Any other suggestions on this type siding?
Make sure to apply wet on wet: https://www.twpstainhelp.com/twp-stain-wet-on-wet-application/
Would like to see your finished project it must be beautiful
I got a sample of the Pecan 100 series and really liked it, but after reading that the 1500 series seems to do better with UV protection, I’m thinking of purchasing the Pecan 1500 series for our deck (that lives in the Texas sun). Is there a difference between the two Pecan colors and if so, what is the biggest difference? Thank you!
The TWP 1520 is close but not exact. A little darker.
I really just want to make sure that it’s not too red (it’s the main reason I like the Pecan 120 over the Cedar 101). I prefer Pecan’s more brown tones and want to make sure Pecan 1520 is more brown than red.
Color varies by wood type and age. Best to stick with the TWP 100 since you already have the sample.
Can twp 1520 pecan be applied over twp 1501 cedar tone without removing the cedar tone? The cedar tone has been down on my cedar deck for 10 months. I’m wanting to darken the deck a little.
The 1520 Pecan is not darker than the 1501. About the same so it would not be noticeable if at all. You would have to go to Dark Oak. Gemini prep first.
Here is the bamboo fence new. This is the color I want. Is pecan it or rustic?
thank you.
The TWP 1500, 100, or 200 Series cannot be applied to bamboo.
Please tell me which one to use as the answer you gave me is non conclusive. Thank u JG
None of them will work on bamboo.
Want to use this on my 3 month old Fading caramel bamboo fence from depot.
is this the color please?
Have bleached cedar shake and clapboard and want to apply 1520 pecan just confirming this is the right product. Is this better brushed or sprayed?
Yes, this will work. Make sure to prep first. Spray or brush is okay.

I need to recoat with twp 1500 pecan, it has been 4 yrs since first coat. can i just pressure wash then let dry and recoat?
You will need the Gemini Kit as well: https://www.twpstain.com/gemini-s-restore-a-deck-cleaner-and-brightener-kit
Which color is lighter: cedartone or pecan?
Pecan is a little bit lighter.
I’m approaching the point of prepping for stain on a large deck project. Wanting to confirm if my approach is correct. This is an existing deck that involves replacing all decking (pressure treated), rebuilding all stairways (pressure treated), repairing railings as needed (so a mix of existing cedar and new pressure treated). Here are the basics: 1) I’ll be using TWP 1500 in Pecan for the decking, stairways and fascia. 2) I’ll be using a solid stain in a darker shade on all railings and posts. 3) Soon I will be prepping the railings and posts (for the solid stain) with your cleaner/brightener kit (while the decking and new pressure treated decking and stairways age appropriately). 4) I’ll be prepping and applying the TWP 1500 in September/October, followed by a maintenance coat next summer.
So in addition to asking if my approach is good, I’d like to know if, 1) over-spray of the cleaner/brightener onto the decking/stairways will affect the appearance when I eventually stain them in September/October (or should I clean/brighten everything now and repeat the decking/stairways prior to staining in September/October? 2) Would it be better to wait until next spring to apply the TWP 1500? All pressure treated wood was installed by the end of May.
The prep products will not harm the solid stain on the railings. Late Fall or Spring will work. Does not matter.
My concern was that the prep products being applied now for the railings/stairways will over-spray onto the decking/stairways which are aging for eventual staining with TWP 1500 this fall. This will result in these areas in effect being prepped twice (once now, and again in the fall), while the other areas will only be prepped in the fall. Just want to ensure and even appearance.
It should be fine. Just rinse the deck well when done.
Could you tell me what color is the next darker to Honeytone? Is it Natural or Pecan or Cedartone? Thanks.
Natural, then Pecan, then Cedartone.
