TWP 1530 Natural was introduced to resemble the 101 Cedartone Natural color. This color is not a “Clear”. This color is a traditional cedar color that highlights your wood grain with Caramel/Golden Tones.
TWP 1500 Series is available in 9 semi-transparent color choices that penetrate into the wood while enhancing the natural wood grain. The 1500 Series is higher in solids content which may result in “richer” colors than the 100 Series. In general, the 1500 Series color will not match the colors in the 100.
Final TWP 1530 Natural color will vary based on:
- Type of Wood
- Age of Wood
- Prepping of Wood
- Application method

If you have used the TWP 1530 Natural, we would love to see your photos!
Please add them in the comment area below.
The photo gallery samples are just all over the place color-wise. Without knowing what type of wood – pressure treated? southern yellow pine? how old? – its impossible to tell what results we’ll get based on these pics…
Colors will vary drastically based on your wood type, age of the wood, how it was prepped, and how it was applied. The color galleries are only a “basic” idea. To understand what it will look like on your wood, you will need to get samples from our site.
Hello, does Natural have some underlying reddish in it? I need something more brown (like oak) but light as well. I’m hesitating with Pecan.
Final colors vary based on wood type, age of the wood, how it is prepped, and how it is applied so there is no way of saying how it will look on your wood without testing a sample.

My opinion yes natural has some red tones. More brown tones would be Honeytone. I know it seems it would be pecan but Honeytone is the most natural with brown tones.
1530 Natural – The absolute best stain hands down on our 35+ yr. old stripped down deck and then brought back to life!! Solid stain is never what u want on your wood it looks cheep and covers your wood grain forever. Yuck & Yuck!
This stain has oil in it so you see and smell that the wood is just soaking it in. An amazing product that reveals the wood grain’s natural beauty!
This color was exactly what I wanted … like rain had just fallen on the deck making it have a beautiful brownish wet look! Blown away!
TWP Stain has won us for a lifetime!
How does the color of 1530 natural compare to 205 California cedar?
Colors vary based on wood type and age so no way to say for certain how they will compare on your wood outside of testing samples.
Understood. I tried a sample of 205 California cedar on new rough sawn pine. The color is too dark for me. Will the 1530 natural be lighter in color on the same wood? Thanks.
The 200 Series starts very dark and takes about 2-3 weeks to fully cure the final color. This is due to the high solids in it.
Thanks, but can I expect the 1530 natural to be lighter in color than 205 when applied to the same wood and after becoming fully cured?
Maybe a little lighter for the 1530 but very close.
Do not use the TWP in an aquarium or anywhere the water is submerged.
What happens to the product when submerged?
It will not work and wash away in a matter of days.
Can you use this on Bamboo panel fencing? Will it seal the bamboo?
No, you cannot use this on bamboo.
Love this color and product!!!
Is your stain resistant to wood beetle invasion?
No but you can add this into it: https://www.twpstain.com/bug-juice-insecticide
Since Bug Juice is a contact insectide, is it safe for pets like dogs?
Yes.
Hi – I bought two samples but didn’t get any instructions how to claim the costs against a 5 Gallon order.Thank you, ChristinePs. The samples are very small. I am ordering two more

Building 3 carriage doors for my garage. Each door is 10’x10’, 2×4 frame, smooth 1/4” plywood on back of door, finished on front with new rough sawn cedar planks with 18” of glass on top. Doors are in North Carolina and face West. I want to stain the framework and the back to match. I’m assuming a single coat for new cedar wood once they are ready. I just need help with how many gallons to cover this much area. The framework is throwing me off on my numbers. Thank you
What is the total wood sq footage added up for all sides being stained?
The closest square footage for the front, back and framing is 640 total for all 3 doors. That is giving us a little wiggle room to the plus side. I hope this helps.
One coat is needed and a 5-gallon pail should cover all.
Changing the wood to white oak from a local sawmill. Want to have a nice darkish golden color when finished. What stain should I order for this new wood choice and desired color? Thanks
Try the TWP 1500 series and some samples to see how it will look on your wood. https://www.twpstain.com/stain-samples
TWP 1530 Natural on pressure treated pine fence
Do you have any photos of TWP 1530 on redwood? Looking to stain a fence, and want to showcase the color variance in the wood without being too yellow. Thanks!
We do not.
I do now! TWP 1530 on new, aged redwood.
Looks great! Why did you decide this color over CA redwood? Also, do you have a before photo of this?
I do have a before photo.
And we felt the CA redwood color was too red. We let the natural Redwood age for 6 months before staining and really like the color it had turned in that time. This was the closet match.
Does anyone have a pic of TEO 1530 Natural on cedar shakes?
Correction TWP 1530 natural.
No, not on shingles.
How does natural compare to cedar tone? Our home has new cedar deck installed with bronze railings( window caping, gutters, and brick brown accent. What would you recommend?
Any color you like will work Best to try some samples as you cannot stain this new wood now anyhow.

Hello, I am installing a deck with ipe wood and am looking for a uv stain with the most natural look, and least amount of darkening. Is TWP 1500 formulated for wood like ipe?
See here about new wood: https://www.twpstainhelp.com/prepping-new-wood-for-twp-stains/
You can use the TWP 1500 after wait and prep.
What is the estimated coverage of one gallon of 1530 stain
150-250 sq feet per gallon per coat.
I am sealing/staining an older fence that has been power washed and looks great. I have used a manual pump-up sprayer to apply your stain in the past. I am using your 1530 Natural stain on the fence. Will the pump-up sprayer work well for this application? Please provide any suggestions.
Yes but always back brush to ensure an even application.
Do we need to seal it too?
No. You cannot seal over the TWP stain.
