We replaced the floor boards and rails on our deck with new wood in 2018. The posts and framework are still the original wood from 1995. We were finally able this past summer (2020) to prep and stain the deck and chose TWP for our project. We first used Restore-A-Deck stain stripper to strip the years of old stain from the posts and framework and then used the Retore-A-Deck Brightener to brighten the wood. We were surprised and delighted to see our 25 year old wood look like new. We then used the Restore-A-Deck Cleaner and the Brightener (again) to clean and brighten the 2 year old wood floor and rails. This too, made that wood look like new. We then stained the entire deck with TWP 100 series in the Rustic 116 color. We were so happy with how the project turned out that we used our leftover products to clean and stain a wood swing that hangs under our deck. We closely followed all of the directions and referred to TWP.com for advice on the project. We have been so happy with our results and look forward to seeing how the stain holds up!

My decks were replaced in 2018. In 2019 I stained with Behr penetrating oil wood finish. To my dismay the decks turned blackish/grey. After much research and several failed sample trials of other products I decided on TWP 200 series cedartone (available for shipment to Canada). The wood was prepped by sanding with palm sander. The stain was easy to apply and I couldn’t be happier with the finish. I live in a harsh maritime environment with some salt spray so only time will tell how the finish holds up. Fingers crossed!

This cedar deck (No.1) was installed in 2012. It has been maintained 3 times, in 2013, 2016 and July 2020. All 3 times I used the Restore-A Deck Stripper & Brightener kit. Then approx. 8 gallons
of 1501 Cedartone stain. The area is approx. 1,610 sf. Long Island summers & winters really take its toll on deck surfaces. But using TWP makes it look great!

Planters, Patio Pond, and Plant Stands

I built these last year. They are pressure treated pine stained with TWP 103 Dark Oak. They were initially very green, but they turned a weird yellow after a year in the sun. I ended up sanding them 60/100/150/220 with a random orbital. I applied stain directly onto the bare wood using stain applicator pads. I ordered samples of honeytone, cedar tone, and dark oak. Honeytone is my favorite on red cedar, and dark oak is my favorite on PTP. The dark oak really makes the PTP grain pop. I tested various application methods on scrap wood and determined a stain pad was best for this project. On rough sawn wood, you really can’t use a stain pad because it gets torn to pieces. A stain brush worked best on my cedar fence I did in honeytone. I even tried spraying, but found that you really have to “wipe on” and then “wipe off” to get good even coverage. What you see in the photos is 1 1/2 coats wet-on-wet.

I really like the TWP product. Very easy application and the results are outstanding. The rain just beads up like a duck on these. I plan to use the cleaner/brightener next spring and apply a maintenance coat.

I built this massive 12′ x 32′ deck last year and let it sit a year before using Restore-A-Deck stripper and brightener and applying two coats of TWP 100 Cedar. It features an outdoor cooking area, hog wire rails, a storage locker, LED lighting, as well as dinning and sitting areas (and firewood storage underneath). For stain, I wanted a solid performer that would seriously protect and enhance the deck that I put so much work into. I wanted something much beyond what I could get at the big box stores and my research lead to TWP. I am more than happy with the outcome. I smile after every rain storm at the sight of beaded water that sticks around until the sun evaporates it, because it certainly won’t soak into the wood. I also smile when I think of the savings and quality improvement of using real wood decking and great stain versus a plastic decking product. The color is consistent, rich and deep. One 5 gallon can covered with enough to spare that I can use it on the additional cabinets I plan to build this winter. I still had some “green” left from the new lumber, but the stain evened it out and really took my deck from “okay” to “amazing”.

Do not have before pictures but first stained with big box store stain, didn’t last a year. Over a week of cleaning and sanding old stain off, stripers and brightens to prep. For new stain I was not going to use just any stain. So with hours and hours of research I came across TWP and could not be happier! Hands down the easiest deck stain I have ever used! I would recommend this to anyone that cares about the look of there deck or wood products. My deck is pressure treated lumber and it looks wonderful. Dark oak is the stain I use and love it!

20+ year old redwood deck. Previous owner painted red. It was peeling when we purchased. Sanded the horizontal deck, replaced the wood on the benches, and stained with TWP 100 Cedar tone. Applied using pump sprayer, took less than 4 hours (not including prep of couse). Looks fantastic!

Known as “Timmy’s Big Deck”, this project is two years in the making. Out looking the Vermilion River in Ohio the deck is approx 25×35 and required 7 gallons of your stain. The top rails feature stain protected with four coats of spar.

As you can see from the pictures the building was not stained or treated for 1 year. The Oklahoma weather baked and bleached the siding. Just 1 coat of TWP 100 Rustic 116 brought it all back to life. The entire building used 5 gals with a little to spare. Using a good ($15) 3” stain brush works great. Very little dripping and it brushes on like silk. Soaks in and covers very well. Because the siding was so baked and bleached, I hope to give it another coat before winter.

Our deck was newly constructed in 2019 and has a composite surface with cedar rails and aluminum balusters. We have two pergolas on the deck which are also cedar. We used two coats of TWP 100 Series Honeytone on the rails and pergolas and we are very pleased with the results. Prior to staining, we used Scott’s outdoor cleaner to remove mold, mildew, and algae. Before the end of the summer, we will be completing the pergola near the stairs and stringing lights across the deck. One gallon of stain was enough to complete two coats on our deck and next up is our fence where we will be needing much more!

We replaced our degraded deck floor with pressure treated flooring last October.
In June, we ordered several samples of TWP and Armstrong Clark.
Applied stain to samples and evaluated for one month outside on the deck.
TWP 100 Dark Oak 103 was the winner for us – ordered 5 gallons here.

In August, cleaned and brightened with the Gemini Restore-A-Deck kit using a pressure washer.
2 days later, put down a thin layer of the Dark Oak TWP100 using the brush technique.

The rain came earlier than forecast – after about 36 hours – but everything seems ok a week later.

As others have written – the results are a delight to behold – we’re very pleased with the results.

AFTER : midday sun
AFTER : Sunset after raining

Thank you for your response! Will try your suggestion! We added a roof to our deck so due to that cost we are going to have to use old and new decking!

This is our 4 year old cedar deck that gets 8+ hours of sun a day and the stain really takes a beating. Using the Gemini Deck cleaner and brightener kit and 2 fresh coats really brings back the color. We love the TWP 100 Rustic 116 mixed in with bug juice!

Our redwood deck is 25 years old! About every 4 to 5 years we have sanded and re-stained with Penofin oil deck stain! 3 years ago we replaced the redwood, sanded and re-stained with again the penofin oil! The redwood that we had used three years ago is not like the redwood originally on the deck! It’s a treated wood! All the work we did and looked horrible by fall! Presently we had to take all the boards off the deck to re do the supports And add a cover to our patio. My question is when we go to put the boards back on we will need to replace some of the boards Again with only option of treated redwood! We will probably need to sand those down to be level with our other boards! Should we wait 4 months because we sanded and so the new boards can become weathered or can we go ahead and stain with your product? Should we use a cleaner on the deck before we stain! Any insight would be gratefully appreciated! Your product comes highly recommended by our hometown Mead Lumber! We live in Sterling, CO., Northeast part of the state out on the plains!

For Contest: We rebuilt our upper and lower decks. New pressure treated wood for everything except the benches and walls which we stripped down. We used Restore-A-Deck Wood Brightener after letting the wood dry out for about 3 months. Then we used TWP 1520 color Pecan. We LOVE LOVE LOVE it ! Get so many compliments. Notice the wall and benches are a bit darker and this is because it wasn’t new wood but stripped down as I mentioned. We like the contrast.

We ordered the sample and decided to go for 1500 honeytone for our cedar fences. The color were much darker than expected and we are pleased with the results so far. No red tint like the natural color.

We purchased two -5 gallons buckets and the shipment is secure.

With the job during July in California, best to do in early mornings and late evenings. I didn’t follow the instructions and continued after the temperature rises at -0am and found the paint didn’t stick well. Did another coat the next morning and it’s perfect.

Following a recommendation from my Dad, I chose TWP’s 1500 Series stain (Rustic) to refinish 1,300 s.f. yellow pine deck and railing. Purchased two five gallon stain and Restore-A-Deck stripper and brightener kits in May 2020. Applied two coats wet-on-wet after taking everything down to bare wood using a floor sander, belt sander and hand sander to completely remove the original stain product. It was quite a job, but well worth the effort! This is the first phase of a three stage project (est. another 2,000 s.f. of deck to refinish) later this year and next. The product was the easiest step in the process using a paint stick pole w/9″ pads and 2″ hand brushes on the railing. TWP, I could really use the grand prize for the next phases!

Our 30-year-old redwood deck was certainly in need of attention. I used a deck cleaning product, applied and scrubbed 3 times, followed by a pressure wash. (The ‘before’ photos’ were taken after cleaning.) A single application of TWP’s 1502 Redwood stain resulted in a rejuvenated, much newer looking deck. I’m very pleased with the stain, its application, and the final appearance.

We have lived at this house for 8 years now and decided it was time to redo the deck. Our original deck was opaque stained grey and was becoming hard to maintain. We also wanted to add a hot tub and pergola. We ended up going with pvc decking, metal rails and a stained Douglas Fir pergola styled in a modern way. I researched exterior stain and website after website led me to TWP! The before pics are of the old deck and the purchased, kiln dried Douglas Fir. We cleaned the Doug Fir as directed with the Gemini Restore a deck kit then stained them with 1500 Series Pecan 1520.

Due to time constraints, we had to build and stain our 850 sf cedar deck over 3 summers: 1) build half deck, 2) build other half deck and stain first half, and 3) stain second half of deck. It worked out well because it allowed the new wood to weather 11-12 months for each staining. We chose the TWP 100 series in Dark Oak and cleaned and brightened with the Gemini Restore-A-Deck kit. In the third summer, we also applied a maintenance coat over the first half and the color is much richer and more uniform (no pic included to keep it at 4). We’re very pleased with the outcome. We did purchase 5 gallons of stain in 2019 since it was a 2 year project, so not sure if we qualify for the contest. But I wanted to get these out there anyway since you were so helpful in answering all my questions. Thanks!

2020 Dock Decking Stain Project.
Attached are 2 before and 2 after pictures of our dock I had re-decked late 2019. I let the boards dry out until June 2020 and only had to do a light pressure wash cleaning before staining. I used a deck paint pad and a brush to apply the stain. Product used was TWP 102 Redwood 5 gallon stain. As you can see the dock turned out Great and the talk of our cove, thanks TWP.

My husband and myself have worked tirelessly every weekend during the past 4 summers to build our own Off grid log cabin from logs off our own land. We still have a few summers before we’ll be done, but we wanted to get our logs protected. I lost SEVERAL nights sleep trying to find the right stain. It’s VERY difficult to find a good oil stain in Canada due to VOC laws. I think I’ve sampled every kind from all the big box stores!! I was browsing online and started reading awesome reviews of TWP and I still can’t believe I ordered it online without trying it! It was sooo easy to apply, easy clean up, and it looks ABSOLUTELY amazing!!! We couldn’t be happier with the results!!

We used 10 gallons of 203 Gold

Thanks for making a great quality oil stain that’s available for shipping to CANADA ?? !!

Refinished with TWP 1500 rustic. The after picture.
