Will the semi solid peel? Or will it age like the 1500 stain? What would match the 1520 pecan?
It is penetrating and does not peel as long as you prep and apply it correctly. The pecan does not have a matching color, so you would have to find something close.

Will semi opaque absorb on a cedar deck if I used 120 grit sandpaper or do I need to roughen it up with 80 grit sandpaper.
Yes, as long as you sand to a rougher grit of 60-80 and clean and brighten afterward. Just one coat of stain is needed.
Which semi solid stain is matching best with Trex saddle brown color?
Anyone having any experience of matching, I’m replacing the wood handrails and would like to have matching color with Trex boards.
Best to test a few samples: https://www.twpstain.com/twp-semi-solid-stain-samples
My deck (PT pine) is 8 years old and was stained 3 times with TWP100
I want to use TWP semi-soid pro-series this time
What would be the closest color to TWP100 dark oak ?
Use this for prep:
https://www.twpstain.com/restore-a-deck-stripper-brightener-kit
Cabin Fever, Charcoal, or Foghorn. Nothing matches Dark Oak exactly.
Is stripping really necessary?
Yes. Very easy to do.
Any video on how to use RAD stripper?

I was planning to stick with TWP100, so I only cleaned (oxiclean + power wash + rinsing – see picture)
Now, I’m really considering using TWP semi-solid to have a more uniform aspect
What are the risks to use TWP semi-solid if not stripped, knowing the previous coats were TWP100?
It could be an issue with adhesion or uneven application if prep is not done correctly.
No pic.
My deck (8 years old PT pine, stained 3 times with TWP100) need a new coat (it’s really washed out right now, to the point I’m not sure I need to use a stripper)
I want to use semi-solid TWP1500 this time
What is the closest color to the TWP100 Dark Oak?
Hi, I have an old Trex (or similar composite) deck on the front porch of the home I bought. It is a faded dark red. I would like to change the color of the decking, will this product be sufficient? Should I choose a cooler or greener toned color to neutralize the red? Also do you ship this to Connecticut?
Yes, you can use our semi-solid colors. You will need the VOC version for CT.
Is this product oil based or water based?
Oil-based.
How possible is it to use this on composite decking to change color to grey, from cedar. Also, can you ship to maryland?
The TWP Semi-solid currently cannot be shipped to MD.
Can the semi solid stain be applied over the semi transparent series 100 stain without removing the semi transparent? Thanks
Best to strip and brighten for prep when switching:

What is the closest semi solid color match to twp116, Rustic. Thanks
Since the Rustic 116 final color varies based on wood type and age, it is not possible to give a close match in the semi-solids. Look at Lighthouse, Redwood Forest, Heartwood, etc.
Hi! We were originally planning to use TWP 200 Butternut Brown on our fence. It is ~5 years old and previously had a clear coat on it, so there is some UV damage and discoloration. I am now considering using the semi-solid.
1. Which would be better?
2. If Semi-Solid is better, which color is closest to Butternut Brown and what is the color difference between them?
3. How long before we would likely have to restain with semi-solid vs TWP 200?
Thank you!
1. Semi-solid has better UV protection.
2. Since the Butternut final color varies based on wood type and age, it is not possible to give a close match in the semi-solids. Any of the brown tones should work for you.
3. You should get an extra 1-2 years of UV protection.
Thank you! Would the Cedar Mulch be a good option?
Cedar Mulch is tan, not brown but is a very nice color.
I have cypress siding that I finished 10 years ago with TWP Cedartone 101. I want to refinish it again and add other unfinished siding. I am planning to clean it with RMR 86 to remove mold and mildew in order to refinish it and I was thinking of using a semi-solid color for better protection. Where I live the temperature range is 0 to 90 degrees F plus or minus 5 degrees.
1) Will a semi-solid color be a better protection?
2) Can it be applied directly on the siding without sanding once it is cleaned?
3) Will there be a color difference between the new wood siding and the old wood siding?
1. Better UV protection.
2. You need to strip and brighten the older siding:
https://www.twpstain.com/restore-a-deck-stripper-brightener-kit-detail
Clean and brighten the unstained wood:
https://www.twpstain.com/gemini-s-restore-a-deck-cleaner-and-brightener-kit
3. Yes, new wood is less absorbent so it stains lighter in color. Semi-solid colors would even this out better than the semi-transparent.
Do not use RMR 86. You need to prep properly using the products we offer.
I have stained my deck for the past 10years w TWP stains. My deck gets 90+ temps all summer and I’m leaning toward paint this time…any suggetions
TWP does not come in a solid stain or paint. Look at the semi-solid colors for longer UV protection.
I have sanded down the deck and used some wood hardener (minwax) on a few boards. I do have a couple spots that need some wood filler. Is there a wood filler that works best and also what should I do before using the semi-solid stain?
No, you cannot use a wood filler with TWP (or any exterior wood stain) stains. It will not stain to blend.
What about the wood hardener? Would that cause an issue with the stain?
Sorry but never heard of a wood hardener so not sure what you mean. Do you have pics?
Yes
You cannot use an interior product for exterior wood and stains. We are not sure if this will harm the TWP or not. If the wood is still porous and the TWP can soak in, then it should be fine.
How prone is the Semi-Solid vs TWP 100? Does it soak into the wood like a traditional oil based stain or does it coat the top like other solid/semi-solids on the market? I don’t want anything that is prone to peeling.
It is a penetrating semi-solid stain, not filming.
I have older (8 years old) exterior stairs built with pressure treated wood (never stained or painted). Should I stain the underside of the stairs, please explain?
No need.
