Hi – we just had our deck rebuilt. Pressure treated pine. Understand we cannot stain until 4+ mos of aging.
Not sure whether to use 100 or 1500?
We live in North Carolina. Deck is on the back side of the house (South) and gets full afternoon sun.
Thanks!

The 100 Series is not allowed on Ohio. Use the TWP 1500 Series.

Hello, use the TWP 1500 Series. The Honeytone color is the lightest tint that provides UV protection. We also have samples on our site for you to test colors.
I had my deck boards replaced about 18 months ago, and my contractor stained with Cabot. It looked awesome when it was laid, but not so great once the stain was applied :(
My usual painter used TWP when doing my fence and porch at my old house, and another contractor recommended it when looking to replace my deck boards. So I am all onboard with using TWP, my questions..
I plan to drum sand as I have some cupping and warping of boards, not sure how extensive this will be..
1. What do I need to do prep for using TWP?
2. Which TWP should I use, 100 or 1500 (I live in GA)
Thanks
1. You have to remove the Cabot fully. Either by sanding or stripping with the Restore a Deck Stripper. Use the RAD brightener after to neutralize.
2. Use the TWP 100 Series.
Many questions to use 100 or 1500. No explanation why they should use one or the other in all the comments on the site. I have a cedar fence in Austin TX. and read that the 1500 is better. Why shouldn’t I use it verses the 100? Please advise. Thanks
Both work very similar but the 100 Series is not compliant in certain states. The 1500 Series does have a little higher solid content and that can translate into slightly better UV protection on a vertical surface such as your fence. Does not mean it will last longer but can hold color a little longer. The 100 Series advantage is that is dries quicker and is able to penetrate deeper.

Use the 100 Series for this deck in MI that is 10 months old. Prep first with the Gemini Restore Kit.

You can use the 100 Series. For two coats applied wet on wet you will need roughly 15-20 gallons.

I’m planning on sanding the deck and then applying your stain. Is any other prep necessary? Should I lightly power wash again after sanding and then what stain do you recommend?

Yes lightly wash the deck again after the sanding. For NJ you will need to use the 1500 Series.

You would have to remove the old layers of sealer before applying the TWP. You would want the 1500 Series.

One side of cabin gets sun 3-4 hours a day, rest of cabin gets little to no sun. Lots of snow in the winter and warm dry summers. Do you recommend the 100 or 1500 series and why?

Use the 100 Series since you have only 3-4 hours of sun. Better penetration and dries faster.
