TWP 100 Series 1 Gallon Deck Stain
Will the gallon cans be shaken, etc. just prior to shipping?
They are not. You will need to stir whent they arrive as pigment will settle
looking for color suggestions that will complement gray siding. The deck is older, pressure treated wood, has been sanded and cleaned, but there is cracking and splitting on several boards.
Try Dark Oak. Cracks and splits are normal for decking and not a concern.
The deck is in the sun for a majority of the day and gets very hot. Should I be concerned that a dark color will cause it to get even hotter?
It will not cause it to be hotter than other colors.
I previously had Sikkens Solid Rubbol Exterior Wood Finish on my deckI sanded it off with 40 grit paper.I’m done to bear wood can I use your product on my PT Deck now thats its clean?
Yes, but make sure you remove all sand dust by washing it off.
Is it ok to use two on outdoor furniture? When stripping old finishes should I sand the old finish off or use some of your strippers. What grips sandpaper should I use? I used two for an old swing set years ago and loved it which is why I would like to use it on my furniture… I have cedartone 1501
can you tell me if you offer a product that is AWPA certified?
The TWP 1500 Series is EPA registered as a wood preservative but it is not AWPA certified.
I used TWP-100 Pro Series Clear. There is a label on top of the can that says “CLEAR does not contain ultraviolet screening pigments and will allow wood to age to a natural gray”.
However, this webpage says “Preserves wood from turning gray”.
Please clarify if the wood will retain the cedar color or turn gray.
Hello,
Clear coatings cannot protect from UV graying. It must be tinted. Our website explains this when you choose clear as the color option from the drop down. It says “*No UV protection” next to the selection, in the cart, and on your invoice.
What color is the closest to cedar when it’s wet and new, like in the picture?
Honeytone 115 is closest to a clean wet look.
How much stain would I need for 120′ of railing that is shown in the photo? It’s been weathering for 4-6 months since I built it. I’d like to get it finished up this spring.
What is the square footage of all wood to be stained?
I was advised that HoneyTone color in the 100 series does not exist anymore. The distributor said that Natural is the replacement/same color as the old HoneyTone. Is that correct?
Where do you live?
I am replacing all of my deck boards with “ Ground Contact Pressure-Treated Premium Southern Yellow Pine Decking Board”. I need UV protection and like a color. What do you recommend I purchase and what are the steps? Thanks in advance
See here about new wood first: https://www.twpstainhelp.com/prepping-new-wood-for-twp-stains/
After the wait and prep, use the TWP 100 or 1500 Series.
What color TWP product would be most similar to this? Going for a rich color without yellow undertones (Idaho).
Try the Pecan 120 color.
My deck has been stained with Behr Weather Proofing water based semi transparent stain. Can TWP100 be applied on this deck after cleaning?
You must remove the Behr fully first. No coating can be applied over the Behr. Sand and or strip to get it off. Brighten last.
Can I use twp stain on a fiberglass front door?
No, that will not work.
We have older Trex decking. Following advice on the web, I scrubbed the deck with Oxyclean to remove dirt.
It turned the deck white and removed all the color. Which TWP semi solid and solid stains are oil hybrids? We cannot buy the all oil formulation in this state apparently.
What state are you in? You can still buy oil-based stains on all US states but it does have to be VOC compliant.
California.
Only the 1500 series is allowed in CA and it will not work for Trex.
what tinting should I use to darken cape cod gray?
You cannot add tint to the TWP stains.
You can mix TWP colors though. So adding some Dark Oak or Pecan would brown out the gray color some.
