Hi I am going to stain my deck soon and would like your recomendations on what to use, how much I need, and how to apply it. It is about 850 sq. ft. by your calculator, red cedar. Its never been stained and is weathered one season. I was looking at cedartone TWP 100 ( Im in southern WI )
Thanks
Yes on the 100 Series for your area. You will need the Gemini Restore Kit for the prep and 7-9 gallons for 2 coats of the stain applied wet on wet. For application, please read this:
Does the 100-200 ft^2 per gallon estimated coverage include the 2 coats “wet on wet” or is only for a single coat. I am planning on using a pump sprayer for application, backrolling, then spray 2nd coat.
150-200 for first coat and 200-300 for the second coat. Best to not spray second coat but use stain brush or pad.
I will be stripping the old, peeling, water based Behr Stain off of my deck railings and balusters and re-staining with TWP. Deck surface itself is trex so no stain needed there. I live in Seattle- not too cold but plenty wet in winter, lots of sun in summer. Better to use the 100 or 1500?
Use the 1500 since it mostly all vertical.
We recently ordered three samples and are thinking about using 105 cape cod gray on our deck. Have you had any feedback from customers good or bad on this color stain? Also when we order the five gallon bucket how do we deduct the money spent on the samples ? Thank you
Seems to be popular. Much better than the Prairie Gray.
Please read this about sample credits:

Fred, best to prep with the Restore A Deck Stripper and Restore A Deck Brightener. The 100 Series would be the stain you want for MI.
I HAVE ABOUT 900 SQ. FT OF PRESSURE TREATED PINE DECK. IT IS 12 YEARS OLD IN GOOD CONDITION. I HAVE USED OLYMPIC MAX CLEAR STAIN/SEALER. THE DECK IS IN FULL SUN AND WAS LAST SEALED THREE YEARS AGO. HOW SHOULD I PREP THE DECK FOR YOUR TWP 100 CEDARTONE? IS TWP A GOOD PRODUCT FOR THIS APPLICATION? I AM LOCATED IN MICHIGAN ZIP48465.
THANKS FRED GRZESIAK
Hi can you tell me if these products are available in Canada
TWP is not legal for Canada
Hi can you tell me if these products are available in Canada
Matt, use calculator on right to determine the amount needed. Samples are $8 and use the 100 Series.
Galen, wide fan tips are better.
What size tip is best to use with this product when applying with an airless pain sprayer?
I live in Iowa and I have a 1 dear old deck. It is 12′ x 15′ deck with railings. It also has 15 steps down to the patio below. This is a full sun deck. No shade. No previous treatments. Starting to lose it color and fading. What type of stain would you recommend? Amount required to stain the enticer deck, stairs, posts, and railings? How much are the samples? Thanks

Sorry but we do not ship to Alaska.

AusJenn, clears have zero UV protection. You must have a tint for this. Any color will work.
I have a new cedar fence (4 months old) and would really prefer to put on a clear protectant, but I see that the TWP 100 shows no UV protection. What’s the best product to maintain the color of my fence? Thanks!
BrianUGA, for 2 coats wet on wet you will need about 40-50 gallons of the TWP for this fence. Makes sure to properly prep the fence first.
How much of the TWP 100 series to stain a 5 year old, weathered, previously waterbased stained, 6′ x 400′ (2400 sq ft per side / 4800 total sq ft) fence? Does your answer include the second coat?
LauraG, Spray on first coat lightly and back wipe second coat with a stain pad or brush within 20-30 minutes. For the two coats you will need 20-25 gallons for the 2500 sq. feet. It varies of course on the application and the wood porosity.
BTW it’s a cedar fence with post tops
Which method of application is most economical for a new fence.
Also, I have 209×6 ft arched fence. That’s roughly 2500 sq feet right?
If I need almost exactly 25 gallons I don’t want to run out with 4 feet left!
connie, shipping to ID takes 4-5 business days.
Looking at ordering 5 gallon pail…..estimated shipping time to Boise Idaho?
is they a stain color booklet availble
Jacque, 1500 and only 1 coat for the first time staining.
I am getting ready to install siding on a barn – 1×12″ boards wtih 1×4″ bats, new construction, rough sawn pine boards. I live in the mountains – lots of snow and rain, very cold (-10) in the winter and lots of sun in the summer. I am wanting to know which would be better 100 or 1500 series? Thanks!
I am staining a 4 month old pine fence. Should I use the ‘Wet on Wet’ application?
I was looking at your ‘Wet on Wet’ application page and saw the tip ‘Do not apply two coats of stain to new wood’.
Martin, after sanding prep again to remove sand dust and open wood grain with the Gemini Restore Kit. Do not sand with a fine grit then 60-80. Shipping takes about 5 days to AZ. The 100 is restricted in the Phoenix area. I would do 1-2 coats depending on how absorbent the wood is. 5 gallons for 1 coat and 7-8 for 2 coats.
I have 750 sq ft of redwood deck being sanded back to bare wood. How many coats of TWP 100 is recommended? How much product would I need? How long would it take to ship to Arizona, Pinetop, 85935? FYI this town is not in Maricopa County but rather Navajo County and I understand that TWP 100 can be used. Please confirm.
Tom, I would spray and back wipe to catch any drips and to make sure it applies evenly. If the wood is rough you may need a little more. Maybe an extra pail.
Looking to stain a 4 month old pine fence (approximately 2500 sq ft for both sides) in Michigan. Would 4x 5-gal Honeytone be the appropriate amount? Also, what is the best means of applying the stain? Spraying?
