TWP 100 Series 5 Gallon Deck Stain
What’s the best transparent stain in a cedar for a deck that is under cover but also under trees and has years of build up but has been pressure washed and cleaned.
The 100 or 1500 Series.
What is the preferred method of installation? I was hoping to spray with an airless sprayer on my fence.
You can use an airless sprayer to apply, but you will need to back brush to ensure an even application.
Awesome, thanks
I’m staining a ipe deck. What color do you recommend for the typical deep brown “wet look”. No reds
TWP 100 is not suggested for IPE, but our Natural Effect is and has excellent reviews for IPE wood if you search Google:

You could try the Walnut color. Samples here: https://www.twpstain.com/twp-natural-effect-samples
Thank you! Not sure how I missed it. The tech behind the impregnating stain is very impressive. Is the two step procedure absolutely necessary? What would I miss out on if only using the 1 part?
The second step is needed to ensure max protection and even better UV resistance. It is a very cool product. Please enter our contest, we would love to see the final results:

Got it. I will post the final results. I’m washing this week. I’ve used cleaner, stripper and brightener. I believe the stripper was mostly unneeded but I’m still dealing with grey fibers when dry. It is mahogany when wet I’ve read where you say it’s ok to stain at this point. But that’s obviously different than the pt wood I’m use to.
In a saltwater marine environment, would a dark stain be better than the cedartone that I’ve used previously to stain a boardwalk? I have used the 100 series previously along with clean/brightner.
You will have better UV resistance with darker colors or our semi-solid colors when in full sun like this.
Thank you for the quick response – If I go semi-solid or darker, would I really need to strip first?
Yes. Stripping is the same process and just as easy as cleaning. Just a deeper removal of old coatings.
Recently finished 900 sq ft decks w/200+ spindles with 205.Looks like new.27 year old structure.Even matched old & new boards.Prepped w/ Cleaner & Brightener.
Looks great. Have you seen our contest?
