TWP 1500 5 Gallon Stain
TWP 1500 is a Semi-transparent Oil-Based wood stain and preservative that is allowed in all 50 states.
The new TWP® 1500 formula is designed to penetrate better, dry faster and outperform the previous TWP® 500 series formula.
TWP® 1500 Series is an EPA registered wood preservative which prevents structural damage and wood decay on exterior above ground wood surfaces such as fencing, decking, wood siding, log homes, and roofing. TWP® 1500 Series resists water absorption that causes warping, cracking and splitting as well as preventing freeze damage in colder climates.
TWP® 1500 Series is a low VOC preservative with special U.V. absorbing pigments that prevent unsightly wood graying, darkening and fading. The selected mildewcides inhibit the growth of mold and mildew which assist in preventing premature discoloration.
TWP® 1500 Series will keep your wood beautiful, fresh and looking new longer. The ease of application and maintenance will allow you to enjoy your investment for years to come.

I ordered the (5) gallon can of TWF 1500
and requested quick shipment so I could stain my 20 year old deck over the Labor Day holiday. The stain arrived on Friday allowing me to apply the stain as planned. I was very happy with the outcome of the stain application and would highly recommend the Pecan color. Thanks for a great experience.

Mineral spirits. Darker colors will protect longer than light colors from UV. Samples are on this link:

You will need to strip and sand off the Defy if you want to use the TWP stains.

thanks!!
If you want to use the TWP 1500, you will need to remove all of the old coatings first. Do you know what type and brand the dark stain is? How to remove depends on this. Stripping is the preferred way if can be done. If not, you will need to sand.
In the description it doesn’t mention airless sprayer, want to be sure it is ok? Any tips? If ok, I’ve read elsewhere that TWP1500 is thicker than most semi-trans stains. Would .013 tip still be ok or go with .015?
It is for a fence, and the idea of brushing 300+ linear ft of fence or lugging around a 2 or 3 gallon pump sprayer sounds horrible to me. Or would it be best to brush on the initial coat (it’s a new fence, aged a year) to get a nice solid coating on, and then as the years go by spray the maintenance coats?
TWP is not a thick stain. You can airless spray with any tip. Wider fans are better for coverage. You can spray the fence, just catch any drips or runs.

2 coats applied wet on wet. About 25-30 total gallons will be needed.

Yes, but you do need to wait and prep. See this about new wood:

4 singles does not qualify for free shipping. Shipping charges will show in cart after you add your shipping info. It populates automatically.

Darker colors do not have greater coverage but they will protect from UV longer. Coverage is the same for all colors.

Also, purchased wood from Menards but am concerned about putting up fence, having it dry over months and then having it turn gray. Will natural color return with this product. Last question, how much prep is needed or can I just brush it on? Thanks!
If the wood is rough sawn then you can stain now as long as the wood is dry. No prep will be needed. For both sides you have roughly 1100 sq. feet. For two coats applied wet on wet, you will need about 10 gallons.

My questions are: Is this product recommended for spruce pine fir and what would the best color for the spruce pine be? And secondly I’m installing 23 6’by 8′ sections. How many gallons would I need? Thank you.
Yes it will work on your wood type. Any color will work, not sure what you are looking for. As for amount, I assume you are doing both side. This would come to 2100-2200 sq. feet. You will need about 20 gallons for two coats.

It will work fine as long as the wood is prepped correctly and the TWP is not over applied. Also if new wood, it needs to weather for 4-12 months:

I do not have a problem finishing the deck in April but what about the sides and bottom of the boards. Would it be advisable to apply a coat of sealer on these to protect them from the weather as they will not be accessible after the deck is installed.
There is no need to stain the underside or edges. Just the exposed wood after install and weathering.

It cannot drop below freezing at night while the stain is still wet. It can drop below 45 degrees but not while applying. These temps will make the dry and curing time much longer.
Hi. I ordered three different samples from you based on the samples shown on your web page. I like the Cedartone, but have a question about it. In my experience, most stains called “cedar”, have an orangey tone. Yours does not (looks more natural). I am ready to order the 5 gals that I will need, but wanted to ask about the accuracy of your sample colors. I don’t want an orangey deck! Can I safely assume that the color will be true on my 1-year old p.t. pine deck (I applied the sample to a scrap of the same decking.) Thank you.
The 1501 cedartone is a brownish/orange, not a straight orangy color.
I am staining cedar siding on my cabin and everything I read said you need 24-48 hours of dry weather after applying. It rained a little the day after I stained which was not supposed to. Should I be worried or concerned about it? I am in Washington and have over half of it left to stain so a day of dry after is going to be tough. Thanks for your help!
You will most likely not have any issues with the siding that had a small amount of rain on it the next day.
